Finally Yamaha works?
Glad for Maverick if he goes well finally, he's got some rotten luck after joining Yamaha

Pol is slowly making his way up into contention, now P9.

Two Honda riders crashed. The other two is nowhere. Time to bin the current cycle, and come up with a new more forgiving one. With the restrictions in develpment it will take a few years to come back, but Honda can not rely on an injury free Mark Marquez as their only chance of winning.

Vinales seizes the lead and keeps it! But two Ducatis and Rins are following closely.

We know the racing cliche about rain being the great equalizer but wind seems to be performing the same job here.

Come on Johann, what a story that would be.

I know I've made the comparison between MotoGP without Marquez, and 1999 F1 without Michael Schumacher, but it's not even like that, it's more like if Mika retired too and Jacques too and we're left with Irvine v Frentzen v Coulthard v Barrichello v Fisichella.
Great racing, super close, but it kinda feels like none of these guys are the real stars. Even though they're fighting for real wins, real championships. So weird.

Petronas seems to have got the race all wrong. Rossi 14th, Morbidelli ???

Surprised by Vinales winning this race.

Bastianini's debut going rather well so far.

Well Marquez is absent and Lorenzo and Stoner retired well before their time.

Bagnaia and Miller's struggles are putting Zarco into perspective. And vindicating Ducati's decision to back Pramac Racing.

It's nice to see Zarco back, looked so promising a couple years back then his career went all wrong.

The Ducatis are thirsty, apparently. The Italian tradition.

In retrospect he moved to Yamaha at the wrong time.

Simon Crafar saying reason for Ducati lack of speed is due to fuel settings. They can’t finish with full mapping. Not the wind.
That kinda raises more questions than it answers!

Looks like Zarco and Bagnaia kept a bit of fuel in reserve... Or did Mir screw up his corner exit?

So is this Maverick's year or will he randomly finish 13th next race like he does?
Nice finish on the battle for 2nd!

The Maverick I always believed in.
#189
Posted 28 March 2021 - 17:47
how did the ducatis manage to lose this race?
They had the ideal bike and setup for a 5-lap race. Not so much for a Grand Prix.
I think their bigger problem is that I have no idea who their strongest rider is.

So, have Yamaha finally fixed the bike?
#191
Posted 28 March 2021 - 17:49
Oh my, so cruel for Mir, he was perfect until that point...
Anyhow, good day for racing today! Maverick very aggressive, good to see. Glad for Zarco too (who I honestly rate higher than Miller, maybe Bagnaia, but the jury's still out). I still think Dovi would be a runaway favourite if he stayed for the season.
I missed the start, what happened with Morbidelli? Very disappointing for the Petronas pair.

It's Qatar! Your guess is as good as mine!

The wind at the track:
Zarco going full chin diaper mode.
Bastianini an impressive 10th in his debut.
Jack 'title favorite honestly' Miller
I miss Morbidelli.
Shame about Mir, but he showed why he is who he is.
Extremely enthusiastic about Maverick. I believe in him 100%.
That was fantastic y'all. See ya at Losail #2.
Now, to find those mud boots for Bristol...

Nice to have the season started again. Most happy about Gardners second place today.
Good show from Ducati and Yamaha in MotoGP. Difficult to see any favorite for the title this year.

I watched Moto2 and GP yesterday; while I found the Moto2 race a bit of a procession, the GP race was really good, kept me wide awake! What a start and what a finish.
I must say I'm looking forward to next weekend (gotta save some space on that PVR for GP) and, oh yes, was there an F1 farce as well that weekend? Didn't miss it at all.

Acosta in Moto 3 looks like the real deal - no reason he can't win the championship in his first year.
Dixon did a great job in Moto 2 considering his wrist injury, and Beaubier was better than expected and will be interesting to watch.
Mir showed why he is world champion. If Vinales can have two or three solid weekends in a row, rather than being in P15 on lap 3 of the next race then we know this is a brave new world!

I can't remember the podcast I listened to (might have been Off Track), but it was an interview with James Toseland and he went over how life altering his wrist injury has been. Very, very bad (unable to play the piano for more than 30 minutes) and undergoing surgery again. When I heard the extent of Dixon's injuries it immediately reminded me of that... Toseland ran a few rounds but would be in pain pushing the limit. He had to call it a career. Hopefully the surgery in Dixon's case has been successful.
