I'm trying to establish when the Altcar trials were held, for my information and someone else who has been looking in to this. We have established the following:-

 

14th August 1948

23rd July 1949

22nd July 1950

12th May 1951 - Waterloo and DMC Speed Trials held (see https://forums.autos.../#entry8301708)

28th July 1951 - appears to be a motorcycle only meeting

10th May 1952

26th July 1952

 

There are some hints that other dates were used:

October 1950 - reported in Autosport in the 20th October edition that a car and bike meeting was held

1951 - reported in Autosport in the 14th December edition that a car and motorcycle meeting was held

 

A post in https://forums.autos...r/#entry2653640 also states that Claude Tipper won at Altcar in 1950 in a Monaco-Norton F3, but no date given.

 

Does anyone know of any further dates, or have access to local newspapers which may give reports? Any further details on these events would be gratefully received!

There was also a meeting held on Saturday 15th Sept 1951.  Report in Autosport  p374 - 21/9/51 issue 12 vol 3.

According to Julian Hunt's Motoring Explorer this was the last meeting.
