OK so Dan's taken the comments back, at least somewhat. Nice to see a superstar admitting to a mistake. Not often that happens. Kudos to Dan.

I still don't feel that the official F1 Youtube channel is full of crashes. Mostly it seems legit content, with crashes used responsibly.

For sure.  It sounds like Danny forget he was talking to the press and not one of his buddies.  He made reference to "getting too comfortable" with an interviewer.

Someone's been in his ear, that's a weirdly submissive tone for something that was hardly controversial to say.

I still get choked up every time I see that video.

Putting on my psychologist hat, I wonder if Danny's hero Dale Earnhardt's death when Danny was a kid has something to do with his visceral response to crash videos.

Maybe he was traumatized by the ad nauseam replays of the crash, he was only 10-11 years old at the time.

In the US coverage they cut away when it was clear there was a problem and didn’t keep repeatedly playing the crash.

In the weeks that followed, it was replayed over and over and the footage was used in many of the pre-race telecasts over the next 2 seasons as I recall.

Yep, that's what I was thinking too. It does not sound like Dan just owning up to a mistake because he wants to own up. It sounds much more like he has been 'made aware' of the 'seriousness' of comments like that.

Maybe he was spoken to, but he has walked things back before when he believes he’s overstepped. He’s always been big enough to own his mistakes.
I still think he was right in what he said, but good on him for clarifying and tempering his language a bit.

I was disagreeing with him but the Bahrain GP 2020 being nominated for a BAFTA kinda proves his point
