Worst moment. Bottas holding up HAM (utterly pointless)

One of the better races at this track, albeit with a predictable outcome.

Best driver: Leclerc he was in a class of his own among the midfield.

Worst driver: Mazepin - 50 seconds behind your teammate is a bad day...Mind you Perez wasn’t far off that the price you pay for a bad qualifying.

Best team: Ferrari, they had a strong weekend closing the gap on Mclaren

Worst team: Alpine, just what was that strategy? They absolutely threw away what should have been a good weekend for them.

Best overtake: Perez on Ricciardo

Worst overtake: Alonso and Stroll - I never like seeing drivers on the inside to just hit the throttle open up the steering and drive the guy on the outside off the road. Felt the same with Verstappen on Hamilton on the opening lap, but apparently that kind of driving is allowed so there you go.

Best moment: Towards the end of the race with different stratgies creating some racing after a boring first half of the grand prix.

Worst moment: That boring this half of the race.

And the race in a sentence: Race of two halfs saved by differing strategies. 6/10

Worst driver: *shrugs*

Best team: Mercedes. Too much is being made of their strategy, because it's their pace that is getting it done. If Lewis isn't within 1 or 2 seconds of Max, he doesn't pit early (like in Bahrain also), because Red Bull would just cover.

Worst team: Alpine. Tbh a lot of us probably assumed that 1-stop was the preferred strategy, esp. after the brief SC period, but at some point it got obvious that it will be tough to extend to the end. Surely you have to at least split the strategy for the two drivers at that point. Lucky to even get 2 points out of this.

Best overtake: Perez on Ricciardo on the outside of turn 1.

Best moment: the start, or the Alonso train.

Worst moment: just the realization that it's not even going to be close in the end.

 

It looked like a nice strategic battle for a while that unfortunately turned out to not be very close in the end. I think we sort of have to swallow the bitter pill that the Mercedes are still just too strong.

Best driver: Hamilton. Honorable mention to Mick Schumacher, 50 seconds ahead of his team mate...

Worst driver: Mazepin, No question.
Best team: Mercedes
Worst team: At this point, Haas's level is known, so I'll say Aston.
Best overtake: Leclerc on Bottas at the start.
Worst overtake: None, really, There was some ackwardness (Stroll), but no howlers.
Best moment: Realizing that Hamilton was coming and that Merc knew *exactly* what it was doing.
Worst moment: Giovinazzi's botched pitstop. Thankfully, it was caught, but doesn't anybody look at the tires before the stop? Why was it not caught earlier? Post-mortem anlysis needed!

And the race in a sentence: Not great, but not bad, either.

Worst driver: no one really stood out (although I guess Perez was a disappointment to Verstappen fans, he did actually make up places off the start for the first time this year)

Worst team: Alpine based on strategy
Best overtake: Lewis on Max
Worst overtake: Norris and Stroll both were a little sketchy defending, but overtakes were ok
Best moment: Max' very clever (and aggressive) start
Worst moment: Max' first pit stop

 

Loved the drama of Lewis closing on Max (after his second pit stop), even though I think we all knew what was going to be the end result.

And the race in a sentence: very tense one, imho Mercees had a slight edge but had to resort to strategy to make it work. Enjoyable overall. Fight for last points also fun to watch, with drivers on very different strategies all with a chance to make it work.

And the race in a sentence:  This weekend was another masterclass by Sir Lewis and Mercedes.  Aggressive and Flexible strategy,  Execution by the best in the business.  Relentless pace. Patience.

Worst driver: Mazepin, for both ruining Norris’ qualifying (and therefore race), and being hopelessly slow and irritating to watch.

Best team: Mercedes with a brave strategy that worked?!

Worst team: Alpine were a huge disappointment.

Best overtake: Anything round the outside of turn three.

Worst overtake: Hamilton having to overtake his own teammate, because the bonehead decided to be aggressive to the wrong person, at the wrong time.

Best moment: Ricciardo turning up.

Worst moment: Norris not turning up.

Best moment: Hamilton's radio about tyres as he caught Max made me laugh.

Worst moment: Majority of the race. This track is pretty bad to race with these cars. When you cant overtake without absolutely mindboggling tireadvantage and drs gimmick you know it is bad.

And the race in more than one sentence ;) : Really bad and mostly boring race overall. Great race at the front by Hamilton and Verstappen battling out. Both the driver and team showing why they are #1 in standings and why RBR and Max are still #2. This is what the sport has been missing for pretty much of the whole last 10 years. But honestly, apart from the thrilling lead battle this was absolutely abysmal race. But just seeing the best? current drivers having a close and fair battle for the win was great.

 

I can not understand how people who have seen the crap that was put out by so much domination in the last 20 years (early years 5 of Ferrari and now 7 or 8? from Merc) have not missed actual competition for the sport.

Best driver - Hamilton, brilliant win. Used pretty much everything in his toolkit.
Worst driver - Mazepin has had an atrocious start to his F1 career. Just looks out of his depth.
Best team - Mercedes just got it right.
Worst team - Alpine, blew a chance for big points this weekend, strange.
Best overtake - Perez on Ricciardo.
Worst overtake - Stroll/Alonso
Best movement - just seeing a pure head to head between Hamilton and Verstappen all weekend long.
Worst moment - Bottas being totally stupid. What the hell was he doing?
