Hi everyone - I'm researching my grandfather Ken Pettitt, who was involved in motor racing in the 60s and early 70s.

I've discovered so far that he was an instructor for Motor Racing Stables at Brands Hatch, as well as running the simulator under the main stand.

Thanks to Bruce Evans, formerly of MRS, I've been able to fill in some of the blanks, but I'd love to hear any recollections anyone has of Motor Racing Stables (especially if they include my grandfather!).

Here's a photo of him in what I think might be one of the Coopers which MRS used in the early days after their move to Brands Hatch.

My grandfather also did some racing - in Ford Anglias and Formula Ford and thanks to Andrew Kitson (who I know frequents these forums) I have the following clipping from a Feb 68 issue of Autosport! Running somewhere towards the back of the pack at Brands Hatch in a 1650 Anglia.

Any recollections of my grandfather from that setting - Anglias or FF - would also be gratefully received!

But, mostly, does anyone have any knowledge or memories of Motor Racing Stables?

Thanks,
Arlen

Hi, and welcome.

There is a very strong Brands Hatch nostalgia presence on Facebook. Perhaps joining one or two of those with your research enquiries might be beneficial. Several of the old Brands regulars in saloons are on there. On TNF, Sterling Ernstzen and Glyn Parham are especially well briefed in Brands  events and people.

 Best of luck

Roger Lund

edit, spl. A victim of predictive....

Thanks Roger - I'd done a couple of the Formula Ford groups (that's where Bruce Evans got in touch), but hadn't thought to see what there was for Brands itself. I'll do that!

As Roger has pointed out there are a couple of good groups on Facebook about Brands Hatch and even though I don't recall your grandfather there are many people on the FB groups who probably will.

Thanks Glyn - much appreciated.

I'm giving Facebook a go, but if anyone can recall anything, please let me know!
