I've reposted this (and updated) from Historical Research to reach a wider audience:

The Midland Motoring Enthusiasts' Club held their 14th meeting at Silverstone, Saturday 23 June 1962.

"Good weather and a full entry list provided an interesting day of mixed events."

I have found a set of results that in most cases does not identify the cars involved.

Does anybody have a programme/report/results for this event?

I am particularly interested in P. E. Richardson (Castle Garage Racing Partnership) - third in the 15-lap Formula Libre Event?

1st. Richard Attwood, Cooper, Midland Racing Partnership, average 85.58 m.p.h., 2nd. W. Bradley, 3rd. P. E. Richardson

Also: 15 laps scratch race for sports cars of any capacity:

1. F/O Clydesdale, Lola, 80.49 m.p.h.

2. G. N. Richardson

3. M. Pendleton

For J. Richardson see Great Auclum, Saturday 11 August 1962 here: https://forums.autos...dpost&p=8545610

Maybe no connection? Who were the hillclimbing Richardson family? (Mr. J and Mrs. B)

Where was the Castle Garage?

"G. N. Richardson escaped when his Ferrari 3-litre rolled over several times at Maggotts Curve. The car was badly damaged, but he was uninjured." Silverstone, Saturday 22 June 1963, 15th annual Midland Motoring Enthusiasts' Club.
Maybe no connection to P. E. Richardson?

Saturday 23 June 1962:

Ten-lap scratch race for sports cars

not exceeding 1,100c.c. unsupercharged,

750c.c. supercharged: 1. F/O Clydesdale,

2. T. P. Hart, 3. R. Willoughby. Average

80.94 m.p.h.

Presumably all Lola Mk 1?

What Lola Mk 1 cars were racing at B.A.R.C. Goodwood that day?

Tony Hegbourne. G. Adair (possibly a Lotus)? Others?

I believe the Ferrari in question was likely 250 GT SWB chassis number 2009GT but I don't know anything about G N Richardson.

From memory, G N Richardson was Geoff Richardson - I'm sure I have several (single seater) results for him at home. Don't know about the namesakes, or where he was from.

Also at Snetterton 6 May 1962 there is an entry from Castle Garage (Finchley Road) Ltd #122  for a J. Richardson  ?

Geoff Richardson built or modified several single seaters under the name of Richardson Racing Automobiles (RRA) competing in non championship Formula One races. According to Racing Sports Cars he also drove a Ferrari 250 GT certainly competing at Snetterton and Castle Combe in 1962 and entering two races at Goodwood in 1963 but for both of those he was a DNA.

According to Formula 2.net the Aleta BMC was a DNA for that race. Looking at the entry list I would have thought that a one litre BMC engined Formula Junior would have been outclassed by 1962.

According to the Motor Racing Register for 1963, a G.N. Richardson holds the Silverstone Club Circuit record for Racing Cars 1500-3000 cc, set in a Connaught on 21.6.58.

Geoff Richardson competed at Shelsley Walsh 10th June 1950 in an RRA, "certainly a marvellous special if not a Shelsley Special". (MAC Centenary book, "Ton up!")

He was fastest of the 1101-1500cc class. A newspaper report gives his name as GS Richardson.

A 1955 report on racing at Charterhall has GN Richardson of "Hartlebury (near Kidderminster)" second to Salvadori in an RRA in the unlimited racing car class.

I am trying to find out if Brenda & Peter Dickinson, and associates at Team Venture, were entered at Goodwood on Saturday 23 June 1962?

Car colours of interest.

G. Adair also a person of interest, offering his Lola for sale in June 1963 here: https://forums.autos...-2#entry8574024

Rob Pennington says:

The Dickinson’s were at Aintree that weekend:

Aintree, 13th B.A.R.C. members' meeting, 23 June 1962

Event 5, 10 lap Scratch Race (For Sports Cars of unlimited engine capacity):

1. H.E. O'Brien (Melling) Elva Climax, 11 min 54.6 sec, 82.62 m.p.h.

2. B.S. Borthwick (Birkenhead) Peco Lola-Climax, 12 min 01.4 sec

3. P.R. Dickinson (Derby) Lola-Climax, 12 min 14.8 sec

4. B.J. Hough, Cooper Bristol, 12 min 16.6 sec

Fastest lap: H.E. O'Brien, Elva Climax, 1 min 09.4 sec., 85.07 m.p.h.

Does anybody have an entry list for B.A.R.C. Aintree, 23 June 1962?

Any sign of Brenda Dickinson and/or Lola Team Venture?

I'm looking for evidence that the Willoughby Lola, seen at Silverstone the same day, was sold/not sold to Peter and Brenda Dickinson?

Coincidently I spoke to Mike Pendleton today and he was driving his Lister Jaguar. He does not recall who Castle Garage Racing were.

ALETA Formula Junior. B.M.C., Weber, pro-

fessionally modified Cooper chassis (only five

races) and spares. £495 for quick sale (new car

purchased).—Castle Garage, Finchley Road,

N.W.11. SPEedwell 3089.

Autosport, 5 January 1962, Page 30

Is the driver Peter Richardson, who raced a Cooper-Chevrolet in 1964?

Silverstone, Nottingham S.C.C., Easter Monday, 19 April 1964:

"Undoubtedly the most spectacular events

were the single-seater racing car event

and the Formule Libre race.

In the single-seater event Peter Richardson’s

Cooper-Chevrolet, which is a combination of the ex-Moss leaf-

spring Formula Two Cooper (still bearing the number “F.2 one”

under its bonnet) and a Rochester fuel-injected Chevrolet V8

engine, completely outpaced the remainder of the field until

Richardson became a little too brave and went wide coming out

of the chicane to allow Jeremy Bouckley’s Lotus-Ford-engined

1.6 Cooper to close up the gap. Sheer power, however, still had

the edge and Richardson quickly pulled away again to finish with

a little in hand from Bouckley."

Motor Sport, May 1964, Page 354

Silverstone, Nottingham S.C.C., Monday 18 May 1964:

3rd (Eight-lap racing cars), then 1st, 88.55 m.p.h. (Eight-lap Formula Libre).

Does anybody have an entry list for B.A.R.C. Aintree, 23 June 1962?

RGDS RLT

You need to try and find someone who has a copy of Graham Heath’s compilation  of Aintree entries and results for the period, in two decade volumes, I think. Hard to find. He was a Marshall at almost all off them , I think.

I am looking for the full results lists for an event there in 1959.

best of luck

Roger Lund.
