Prommer, you've really got to quit misunderstanding my points I absolutely agree with you, but there are reasons why it is the way it is. loki and I aren't defending the practice, just attempting to explain how it is what it is. Isn't this the place where I post the meme of the little girl going "Why Not Both?" I understand the kids like the memes
I also realize the internet is all about pissing and moaning and whin(g)ing. But, when it is consistently from folks who don't understand that the U.S. model is commercial broadcast television and that we don't have a mother Beeb, that's when it becomes comically laughable. That's the part that you, and they, miss. That British TV also has adverts on other networks (hello, ITV anyone?) makes it all the more silly. Again, in Britain, they've had the long existing model of placing the ads (adverts) between shows, not during. That isn't how it's done here. Again, it's not an endorsement, or saying that I like the number of ads, it's just an understanding of it and knowledge about it. See loki's post on time buy and local affiliates.
And you're using Twitter to illustrate this point of dissatisfaction with all the ads? Twitter!!!? Yeez! Twitter is as great a source of gaging outrage as Wikipedia is for reliable information
There's more, like why Rutledge Wood is there, the focus on Jimmie Johnson, the NFL, etc., but it's an ever recurring trope...I guarantee it comes up again the next race, like militarism, religion, etc., etc., etc.
