What's going on this year? It's terrible. Date conflits are all over the place, and weekends with nothing (like this one today) and it rarely ever happened before.
Liberty are very likely to blame as this never happened with Bernie, and Ezpeleta is still in MotoGP.

28 March - Both F1 and MotoGP
4 April - Only MotoGP
11 April - None
18 April - Both F1 and MotoGP
25 April - None
2 May - Both F1 and MotoGP
9 May - Only F1
16 May - Only MotoGP
23 May - Only F1
30 May - Only MotoGP
6 June - Both F1 and MotoGP
13 June - None
20 June - Both F1 and MotoGP
27 June - Both F1 and MotoGP

I stop before July, but there are at least 4-5 more, if someone is bored can complete the year...

I would imagine covid has probably been the fly in the ointment - they don't necessarily have the luxury of certainty and really just need to focus on what works best for their series with regards to the schedule, rather than being guided by what other series are doing?

Having said that, it seems like MotoGP are trying to at least change start times so they aren't actually racing when F1 is?

FWIW I don't mind having MotoGP on and then the F1 straight after - saves me having to feign interest in whatever trash my wife is watching on Netflix :p Plus there are plenty of other motor racing series to watch.

We can't attend these races so what does it matter?

I’d prefer F1 avoided clashes with WEC, BTCC, IndyCar rather than MotoGP.

I couldn’t care less where and when bikes race.

Motogp was always making the calendar to avoid conflicts, they don't anymore as they discovered F1 starts an hour later now, so there's no conflict.

Ehmm... Still conflicting on TV?

MotoGP has 3 races for the 3 bike classes, a weekend with both will always cause conflict, unless, they race in saturday instead like the dutch GP

The worst thing is that none took advantage of all those weekends with nothing.

Dutch TT is on a Sunday nowadays. It's frustrating but frankly the calendars have so many races in nowadays that I don't even try to watch them all.

There are far too many car racing series to avoid clashes, let alone when we add another sport like bike racing.

But they don't clash? MotoGP and F1 can be watched back to back.

With everything that's gone on in the past 12 months and the structural risks to international motor racing that we have some busy TV weekends is very much First World Problems  :drunk:

The upside is occasionally I get a completely free weekend to do something else.

Both series have over 20 races. Both are looking to expand. Arguably not colliding with Indy500 and Le Mans should be more important for F1.

Both series starts in March, and dont want to run into Christmas. Both are travelling the world, both races in Europe at the same time, due to climate etc.

It's impossible to avoid multiple collisions.

What clashes? When MotoGP is on, nothing else matters.

And then there is SBK - at least with no F1 and MotoGP today, we had SBK  (incl SSP)

You miss F2-F3 main race, though,

I don't know about the MotGP calendar, but some of the these clashes are caused by F1 replacement races. In December, the original F1 calendar looked like this:

21 March – Melbourne
28 March – Bahrain
11 April – Shanghai
25 April – TBC
9 May – Barcelona
23 May – Monaco
6 June – Baku
13 June – Montreal
27 June – Paul Ricard
4 July – Red Bull Ring
18 July – Silverstone
1 August – Hungaroring
29 August – Spa-Francorchamps
5 September – Zandvoort
12 September – Monza
26 September – Sochi
3 October – Singapore
10 October – Suzuka
24 October – Austin
31 October – Mexico City
14 November – Interlagos
28 November – Jeddah
5 December – Abu Dhabi

F1 is a sport played on weekends. Lots of things happen on weekends. It's inevitably going to clash with lots of things.

Bit of a tangent but I'd like a bit of midweek F1 action.

I wouldn't say F2/F3 are the equivalents of MotoGP/Moto2/Moto3

Motorcycle races are short and meant to be watched altogether, many people do

While F2 and F3 are considered totally different series, the MotoGP series are essencial all the same series but 3 different classes, I think.

When both series had shorter calendar there was much less clashes, or even if there were, then races were held in much different time zones (like MotoGP in Barcelona and F1 in Canada)

What's the problem, then?

Those who claim that you can watch both F1 and MotoGP at the same day, without any time clash, which is not true most of cases. Last time Moto2 was moved to the last race after MotoGP, and at the same time as F1.

MotoGP usually is 14.00-14.45 and F1 is 15.00-17.00

I loved the old skool Baku time of 14.00 though. Much more time afterwards.

I don't feel like there's a lot of people watching Moto2 AND F1, it's a non-scandal. I assume next year we'll be back to more traditional schedules anyways.

With more than 20 race-weekend each, clash are inevitable.

I watch so many series that I always have to choose... and usually miss both of these giants.

I haven't watched MotoGP properly for many years, but these clashes where the race begins an hour begin the F1 race have actually been quite enjoyable. It's helped me get back into a habit of watching the bikes and I'm enjoying it.

It's quite funny that the Marquez domination is the main reason I got bored of watching, and now watching his comeback is my main joy of watching.
