Pit to Hamilton in the pit lane:

„VER should be 1.5s behind“

3 sec later

“That’s VER alongside“

Bit late to the party, but Max got a clear "box this lap" instruction, not a "box opposite to Lewis" instruction, which begs the question: don't Mercedes listen in on Red Bull's radio on the F1 live feed (and vice versa)?

Yes i found (probably) the same audio track from the race (although we don't know the timing of it- maybe it was done as late as possible assuring Mercedes wouldn't be pitting that lap).

Which gives the interesting scenario - what if Hamilton and Verstappen had pitted at the same time, doubtless Hamilton would've emerged first, and it would be a reverse situation. Would Hamilton have taken the initiative from the front? I'm quite sure we will find out sometime soon, at another track.

Really? The timing tower showed a gap of 24.4 seconds to Verstappen when Hamilton entered the pit lane. According to my calculations the average pit stop time loss in 2019 was 24.2 seconds, so I knew

This will be tight.

I think it was quite a brave move to pit while leading.  Track position is usually king, but if they hadn't done it there's every chance Mercedes might have and then it would have been Barcelona all over again

Without the straight line speed advantage though.

Yep. Happened exactly like this, you can check the replay in F1TV (Hamilton’s onboard)
