Used to see these in sprint and super modifieds as late as the early sixties. :smoking:

One interesting item I didn't have room to include: The Fireball combustion chamber used a contoured piston crown that looked a great deal like a GDI piston of today. Totally different situation that obtained a similar looking result.

Somehow, I never made the mental connection between the Buick Fireball combustion chamber and the Michael May development of the same name. 

 

To me, while the Buick Fireball chamber is a real thing, if you will, with a special piston design and so forth, I always thought of it as marketing palaver as much as anything.
