Another aspect of the race I hadn’t picked up on until now: Red Bull sacrificed 2 to 6 WCC points, and 2 to 6 WDC points for Perez, in order to take 1 WDC point off Hamilton.

I admire them for it. I’d have done the same. But that’s quite a remarkable decision!

It's still nothing compared to Ferrari breaking the seal on Massa's gearbox, just so they could move Alonso up by one grid place.

Yes it was noticeable  from the W series ,F2 and F1.  The circuit does not have the reputation of having pole on the "wrong" side,  maybe some one dropped a load of oil during the week and the high track temperatures brought it to the surface

Thank you for trying to put this topic back on track

:drunk:

There was somebody who laid a oil trail around the whole track on Friday.  There was a line of oil-soak during W Series qually IIRC.  It was definitely on the racing line so might have something to do with it.  But surely the F1 teams would have bleating about it before the race?

In more amusing news: according to Marko Max is immortal now https://www.rtl.de/c...on-4798954.html

He says that the average Joe would die in that crash... Well, could be kinda right. But the amazing safety measures of an F1 car also help a lot

That's the most pathetic and embarrassing thing I think I may have seen any team Do

Those are some strong opinions there on team tactics.

Odd yeah. But that’s pretty Team Max remember, not team RB.

What do you think gives Red Bull more exposure, a WDC for Max or a WCC for Red Bull. They know 95% of the viewers don’t care about the WCC or don’t even know there Is one.

Looks to me like the high, side cockpit protection was enough, as well as the air-scoop structure.

That was damn nearly a Karl Wendlinger scenario.

So...did anyone attend the GP and get coronavirus? My wife tested positive yesterday, haven't been anywhere since the Friday of the GP (apart from a restaurant the previous Saturday) so this is most likely where she caught it. We stayed at a small hotel the evening before (but barely inside apart from our room) and used the m40 park and ride. We're both mid 30's and double vaxxed.(Mods if this is the wrong thread please move/delete)

95%? I take you invented this number to suit your needs... way.. way too high.

Yep, mild flu-like symptoms so far - high temp, sore throat etc. No cough though.

Given there was so many people there it's almost impossible there wasn't a lot of infected people there. I guess the question is whether you sat in very close proximity to people.

Also how long ago was your 2nd vaccine. Of 2-3 weeks plus then all should be well and illness relatively short.

Well, Marko... is himself, I never cared a bit for what come out of his mouth.

On that specific topic however... I felt from the moment Verstappen stepped out of the car that we can only be sure what it did or did not do to him after the next race weekend, or at least the next session in a F1 car.

I'm glad like most people he appears to be fine in all tests so far, but the ultimate test hasn't happened yet in my estimation.

Yes, I'm sure there were many people infected, no doubt. Walked around the whole track, masks on when in busy queues/toilets etc, sat in camping chairs, sat in a few grandstands, the busiest being fp1 at club. Was on the end of a row with no one immediately next to/in front of us, but obviously it was busy. There was a fair breeze through the stands all day so I guess the delta variant is just so transmissible that even outside in a breeze doesn't stop it.

2nd vaccines mid June. Took the risk given most of it was outdoors, Silverstone tends to have a breeze etc. Don't expect her (or me) to get much beyond flu-like symptoms so happy the vaccines are doing well in that regard.

Hope she feels better soon..  I was at the British GP from Thursday until Monday with 5 friends, we are all feeling fine ( apart from the week long hangovers that seem to follow grand prix weekends these days  )

Unless you were inside at the GP, it's far more likely your wife got it at the restaurant.

Probably. It was very annoying that for the first couple of hours people seemed to wear masks in the toilets, but come lunch time it was like 5% of people, if that. Unsurprisingly I'm positive now too, but only got a mild headache. It was a good day all in all, still worth the risk.

Had Verstappen been more to the inside, they would have made contact (as Lewis wasn't leaving any space...) and we'd hear a 50 page debate that Verstappen didn't give Lewis any space on the inside.

This looks pretty much to applying double standards...

Just so. You should be well aware of that by now in these forums though!

Lewis did not endlessly run wide though. He wanted to force Max into the switchback line and Hamilton positioned his car to defend the switchback. Exactly what Max did into Brooklands a few turns earlier. Max dives in (hits a very early apex for that corner and runs wide on exit) such that Hamilton cannot get on the power to do a switchback. Hamilton took the switchback line there because the sweeping line is very high risk when you are not both wheels side by side.

Not a very well executed switch back from Ham then.. To order to switch back, you need to steer behind your competitor..

You did notice that the line Max took, was wider then Lec did?
