Well, Lewis has his Senna moment now. Inside Copse is NOT an overtaking spot.

If Lewis Hamilton were a certain German driver, they would be calling for a ban. I doubt he’ll get even a 5 second penalty for what was a taking out of his only championship opponent. Oh and he bumped into Max before that as well.

Lewis has no business being there and drifting into Max.

Shades of Hill 1995, Lewis deserves a penalty but the calls for a DSQ from the race thread are ridiculous

Hamilton screwed up there, huge mistake, that move was never on.

Brilliant lap by Hamilton. Today he truly proved he's up there with Senna and Schumacher.

Hamilton feels he was ahead, but the replay clearly shows he wasn't.

Yeah. Highly optimistic because he was always going to lose speed going into the corner so tight. I'd apportion most of the blame to Hamilton, but I don't sympathise much with Verstappen - the dirtiest defensive driver out there.

It’s a clear penalty in this case.

Lewis wiped him out plain and simple. Max left plenty of space on the inside.

Going in the inside in that corner on the dirty side??? really really stupid and overly aggressive from lewis.

deserves a big penalty

Fairly normal incident. Hamilton's fault obviously (although they could have collided multiple times throughout this lap already), and a penalty would be fine (usually gets you 5 seconds at most), anything more is hysteria because of the implication of the championship.

For years now I was expecting such a incident at Copse, in any series. And here we are. At the sharp end of F1.

Rosberg said it best - that Hamilton is incredible at these grey areas. Can't really say one or the other and he's just there, what can you do about it ?

I apologies to Max and his supporters but I do sincerely think that this is a racing incident. Max will learn from this and be better.

Other situation. Lewis had 1,5 m from the apex and went wide against the right rear.

You can't overtake there. He couldn't hold it and slid into Vesrtappen. Desperation tactics.

Typical racing incident. Collisions are the core of motorsport, so nothing unusual here. Happens in every category in most races, though usually in a slower sections.

Only malicious/intentional crashes should be penalized like that of Schumi. I'm sure Hamilton didn't want it to end in a collision.

Yeah, but he won’t get one, plus he got a red flag to fix whatever damage he has too.

“I was ahead” no you weren’t, Lewis.

Hamilton as ever so lucky coming unscathed from an incident. These happened a couple of times during the seasons of competition vs Vettel and Vettel always took the worst part, which, in part, led to his labeling as mistake prone. In any case, it's pretty convenient for Ham for the WDC.

Bit of an overreaction already.

There have been a few of these clumsy incidents in the last few years.

Desperate move from Hamilton. His frustration is clearly showing. But he wont get a penalty its Max he always gets ****ed by the FIA.

Due to severity of the incident and potential tragic consequences for Max they will need to give Lewis a penalty. He did not hit the apex and Max was ahead.

Racing incident for me, but if someone is to be blamed, it's gotta be Lewis.

Worth a penalty? I don't think so.

For me a racing incident.
Yes Hamilton was to aggressive but I feel Max could have given a bit more space.
It was always going to end in tears of no one backed out.

Ham never hit apex, he had space, he understeered into Max. Ham's fault, stop-and-go x seconds under green.

If there's a penalty for that, F1 is bankrupt.. They don't want these drivers to race anymore.

He had space but went too fast for it. Copse isn't on for such an action.

Max turned in as if no one was there.

You have to respect these high-speed tracks in wheel-to-wheel racing.

Glad he seems to be ok-ish after that massive shunt.

If they want to be consistent with Austria penalties, this one should be one for Lewis. Lewis gave motions earlier in the lap that he was perfectly comfortable giving Max a gap in the back. A very dangerous incident.

If we replace Hamilton with say Mazepin, do we still call it a racing incident?

Lewis will for sure get a big penalty. Should have been close to apex. Dont understear into max there, this was extremely dangerous!

Anybody who has done' even amateur level racing would know that's 100 percent Lewis' fault. On a massively high speed corner you don't stick your nose inside a car on the racing line, and you being being a mile away from apex. Desperation is the word i would say.
