And Ticktum is dropped by Williams (presumably after his comments about Latifi on Twitch).

I think this is newsworthy enough for its own thread. Motor Sport are going with "poo jibe" and who am I to disagree with the Brooklands Gazette.

To clarify from another thread: Ticktum suggests that the Latifi jibe came after he was fired.

He should swallow his pride and chase a NASCAR ride.  We like our taxi cab racers a little rough around the edges.

So it was a case of slagging off a former colleague, rather than a current one.

Ticktum has been around since, it feels like, forever and when listening to the commentators it is easy to believe that he is the best driver ever and his time will come. It will not come.

How many attempts does it take to ruin a career?

He should be sent off to Indy and get his head kicked in over there.

He acts rough around the edges but coming into a series where off track physical altercations are more or less condoned he’d likely get his ass whipped a time or two.  He seems to have the right amount of aggression for stock cars but may not have the patience.

You would think, but most of the NASCAR guys are tiny and couldn't beat up a strong cup of coffee.  But every team has a gas carrier that goes around 6'5", 285lbs, and he acts like a hockey enforcer.

I don't watch Hockey so I don't get this reference but I choose to believe it means the drivers say things like "You have offended my honour. Hoskins will now thrash you."

Tictum was never going to get a Williams drive, he doesn't have any money. I don't understand drivers who insists on staying in junior formula when they are never going to get an F1 seat, he would be better off trying to get an Indycar drive or a seat in the WEC.

Ticktum’s inability to learn from his mistakes or behave like an adult should have killed off his career by now. I used to think his schtick was quite amusing in the same way I used to think The Simpsons was funny. He’s old enough now to know better, and he just never learns. That 12 month ban, getting dumped by Red Bull and now Williams, all for being a dick rather than for his performance - he’s never going to learn.

He must have some money? I mean, theoretically Gelael paid for 2 cars last year and Daruvala the same this year, but that's rather unlikely. And it's not like Williams are paying for him to drive in F2. So some money must be there to finance it all.

Ey now. Glick is quite a serious race team. Even though I have a soft spot for it, Rich Tantrum Energy would be a better fit for byKolles  :p

Makes more sense that it would be after he was let go, holding resentment towards Latifi given the situation is at least understandable even if vocalising it is probably not the smartest career move.

Ticktum is actually pretty talented, when he’s not smashing into his opponents or boneheadedly putting his car in places where it can only cause trouble.

He’s also suffered from a fair amount of poor luck recently, but also appears to be the absolute worst person at managing himself and dealing with adversity.

What drama.

Although still left wondering if there is a racing driver that doesn't come across as a complete plank when blabbering away on Twitch.

Looks as though Williams are just capitalising on the bullshit. The Autosport story quite clearly says that Ticktum and Williams parted company last week. When was this video from?

AKA Larson syndrome.
I was also going to post a pic of ‘Marsha’ as well but decided against it as it’s borderline.

While still utterly stupid, at least his blunder makes sense now. Being bitter after being told he's not getting the seat in 22 and being unable to deal with it properly is a lot more understandable than randomly dragging a colleague in the mud for no apparent reason.

I know it's natural to want to pile on, but Ticktum is quick and has won in almost every major series he's competed in. So what if he's rough around the edges.

Also the comments were made on a video game stream which is probably five hours long.

I'd love to see Ticktum in F1, he'd be box office, especially in a world as easily offended as this one!

He's be great in Indycar.

The Hungary GP weekend from what I can tell.

Not sure how Williams are capitalizing on it though? Because they announced it now?

So given that the comments were post-sacking, is this definitely why he was let go?

Nope. RaceFans are putting out some rumours though. At the moment no-one really knows (except Ticktum and Williams I guess).

That's Saturday evening. Convenient excuse for Williams. It looks as though Williams know that they don't have an available seat next year. Interesting.

Ticktum - Ferrucci lineup and the world would explode  :smoking:

I still think Dan Ticktum is one hell of a driver, and he's doing very well this season in F2 as well.
His attitude is never going to change, you have to take him for what he is... i guess.

After his ban, on track he always behaved fine.

I hope this madlad can find his place in Motorsport, one day or another.

From Autosport story. This articlevhas changed twice today, once in the last hour. There is nothing to suggest that it's been edited.
From Article,

"But it emerged on Tuesday that the 22-year-old was released from Williams’ young driver academy last week, with Ticktum claiming it was because there was “no option for an F1 seat in 2022 for me”."

Exactly, except they say "honor", not "honour".  And imagine that Hoskins is a little touched and loses capacity for rational thought and has to be restrained by several people even after the affront has been paid back in full.

I'm still a fan of Ticktum's driving (from time to time) but I think it would have been extremely surprising to see him land an F1 drive. I think he lacks the funding, the consistency and the mentality. So what are you left with? Well, the guy can be very, very quick (from time to time).

But yeah, maybe Bottas is about to sign a contract.
