I’m very saddened to learn that Graham Robson has died. In addition to the many fine books he wrote, he used to be a regular poster here, and I personally had got to know and like him through our many interactions at quiz competitions over the years. Sincere condolences to his son Hamish, who also posts here, and all his family and friends. Here’s the tribute posted on the Classic Ford Magazine site:

I was lucky to meet Graham at a couple of TNF Herts Film Club meetings, what a fabulous enthusiast and all round good egg with so many stories to tell about his own adventures, not least those around his role with the London to Mexico World Cup Rally. Sincerest condolences to Graham's family and many friends.

He was a very accomplished speaker/compere.
He shot up in my estimation at one of the TNF Film Shows, when he made the effort to congratulate me after a stumbling, amateurish little talk, just after one of his professional performances.

I am saddened to read this, I have many of his books on my shelves. I remember a while ago emailing a magazine suggesting that a competition history of Rootes was called for and Graham Robson, the man to write it. I got a reply from Graham saying that very volume was on its way to the publishers....

 

A couple of years ago I got into conversation with a pleasant and knowledgeable gentleman at Cirencester Park on the Lombard Bath event. It was only by something he said that I realised I was talking to Graham Robson.

Graham Robson was my father, thank you so much to all of you who have taken time to post here.

 

Dad will be missed deeply, not only by his countless friends but, as it has become clear over the past 24hrs, by everyone who met him.

I’m currently working in Germany and, thanks to the current situation, haven’t seen any of my family for well over a year. Nevertheless my regular phone calls with dad have always been a joyous, laughter-filled occasion. It was clear that he was immensely proud of both his sons, and hugely supportive in everything we do even if he didn’t agree with all!

In turn we were immensely proud of him and all he gave us.

There are so many highlights, mine start with my mum being taken for a pregnancy scan (of me!) in a GT40, walking through forests listening to BDAs, going to my Ford interview in an RS200, being pulled in to the world of international motorsport, and holidaying in America looking at his expression of pure wonder standing under the main engines of a Saturn V.

No wonder I’ve been in to cars, engineering and racing since birth.

Rest peacefully Dad, life for so many, especially for me (Hamish) and Jonathan, is a poorer place.

Those long gone always remain with us Hamish - in our heads.  Your Dad was one of the good guys - and he has left fellow enthusiasts and future generations a real wealth of recorded knowledge...
