Saw that last night and was going to post today. He was one of the names to beat in the early 1970s that I noticed and noted, and later I saw his sons race.

With sad irony, the magazine Classic Racer published the first of two features on him in their last issue.

RIP Superfrog....

One of my first motorcycling heroes, even before I started riding bikes myself, though I first became aware of him as a winner in snowmobile events. He was always fast and looking back it seems if racing luck had gone his way a bit more often, he would be even more highly-regarded today. I don't recall that he ever "officially" retired, he just seemed to race less, and said in one of his often hilarious interviews he was doing quite well in his "used food" business since scaling back his racing. Due to his successes with Kawasaki's triples I bought and raced a Kawasaki H1, which was very quick but didn't like to do anything else, like change direction or slow for corners. But it was quick! So, Kawasaki, the magazines may have ragged on your triples, but Mr Duhamel certainly sold some bikes for you. RIP Yvon.

Sad news...still can remember his great rides in the Transatlantic Races in the early 70s when, not knowing the tracks, he really hustled the green meanie Kawasaki around Brands and Mallory RIP condolences to family and friends

Many in the broad motorsports world – an especially those in Canada – reacted this week when word trickled out on the death of the legendary Yvon Duhamel on Tuesday, August 17, at the age of 81.

To snowmobilers, Duhamel was one of the sport’s first true mega-stars. He was one of the first “factory” Ski-Doo racers when he signed on to race for the brand’s team in 1969. He quickly became larger than life, despite his diminutive build...

...Oh yeah, that motorcycle racing thing… Duhamel was also a legend on two wheels, gaining most acclaim as the driver of the neon green No. 17 Kawasaki. From flat track racing to road racing, Duhamel raced all over the world on bikes — and that’s how most of the motorsports community is recalling him, but he’ll always be a sled racer first to us! He even competed in a couple of NASCAR races on four wheels.
