I got to briefly meet Robin here at Richmond in victory lane between races an chatted about howthe IRL at that time gonna deal with the passing issues with cars  buy changing the wings.  Nice guy

But i gotta say after seeing most of his mailbags   after Donald Davidson , Robin  was a great historian    could tell you more about the drivers that may  never have won the Indy 500  , they all had interesting backgrounds to how they got to Indy.

We never got a book  but those mailbags are just as good to listen to  and need to be maintained and not lost , what happens to the work of many racing historians in the past  when they leave this mortal coil.

   Paul

Just a few weeks until Laguna Seca and Long Beach where we always had a chance to talk with him. He was a super guy, after a few years of seeing him at Long Beach, he knew us when he saw us and no matter what he always took time to give our crew all the latest. Talking with him was always entertaining, not just because we were fans, but also because inevitably some driver or owner would bust in on us. Chip stopped his scooter once to tell us not to believe a thing he said, then chuckled and rode off, Mario to whisper something to him, da Matta, Papis, Little Al, Vasser and many more as well.

He was one of those characters who was a real individual stand out, and as knowledgable as they come about Indy's past, and as up to date as anyone of the myriad IndyCar paddock intrigues.

He will be sorely missed, and TBH, his shoes can never be filled.

Thanks, RM, RIP

RACER has a fine series of articles about Miller, including an appreciation from Marshall Pruett, Conor Daly writing about how RM helped him in his career, and Miller's last article for the print magazine, about A. J. Foyt. Worth a look.
