I've heard through the grapevine that Doug and Valerie Nye celebrate their Golden Wedding Anniversary this Saturday (the 2nd).

Doug, to paraphrase an expression- "You have won the lottery of life", you have found a wonderful partner to accompany you through life". It is the best thing that can happen to anybody. Always remember what good fortune came your way when you met her. May you both have many years more together.

P.S. I too know the joy of having the gift of a wonderful partner. My wife and I are slightly behind you after only 47 years of marriage-and we are still enjoying every single day!

A golden wedding anniversary was something I really desired...

My first wife called it quits after sixteen years, that made it seem more unlikely. But marrying a woman nine years my junior and counting on good genes in me, I thought I'd make it the second time.

You could very well say that I fully understand what an achievement it is and my most sincere congratulations to Doug and Valerie.
