Haven't read up on any rumors, but I thought Leclerc would do another season with Prema for sure.

From what i hear, Mercedes is not impressed with Aron progress this year.

I would be a few quid with Hadjar at Hitech thanks to his 2022 red bull backing.

Colapinto's manager has confirmed they are aiming for F3 next year but didn't disclose the team. The difficulty is in finding the money, of course. It seems they have until early November to secure the seat they are negotiating now. There's a possibility too to run with an Italian team but that team wants Colapinto to race as an Italian (he has that nationality too) but he wants to keep on racing under the Argentine flag. The problem is he has zero sponsorship from Argentina, all his sponsors are European.

Also no Iwasa in that test and he was the best Red Bull Junior rookie in F3 this season. Will he already move to F2? (that would be quite soon, it's just his 2nd year in Europe) or will he return to Japan to contest Super Formula? A second season in F3 would be best for him imho.

Also no Alex Quinn and no sign of Michael Belov (who showed great speed on occasion).

This testing field is not exactly the quality injection I was hoping for but then the most interesting drivers in F. Regional (Mini, Beganovic, Bortoletto, Rosso, Pizzi,Haverkort. Hadjar seems like the only rookie who will move up and with Red Bull backing now) were the rookies and they moved to F. Regional after just one season of F4 so it makes sense that they would do another season in that class before moving to FIA F3.

Also no Louis Foster who deserves a shot in F3.

Correa (wasn't he planning to move to F2 again?), van der Helm, Toth, Villagomez, Benavides, Azman, Cohen, Faria or Ushijima are not exactly drivers I'm excited about. And Rasmussen has been very underwhelming (never saw him as a big talent to be honest, he was underwhelming in F4 too). I guess Kaylen Frederick deserves a second shot because he missed several race weekends this year but he isn't going to be that competitive anyway.

Olie Bearman will be the most interesting rookie to watch in that test. And Paul Aron (Mercedes Jr.) & Isac Hadjar (Red Bull Jr.) off course since they're in F1 development programs.

Then there are Zane Maloney and Franco Colapinto: two drivers I rate very highly and Colapinto has in the meantime shown that he can also be very quick in an LMP2. They are, along with Bearman, Aron & Hadjar certainly quality additions so is highly rated Spaniard David Vidales but he doesn't have that much backing behind him and is testing with Campos, one of the lesser teams although Colombo has shown that you can win in that car.

Pepe Marti has shown some nice things in Spanish F4 this year but he was also dominated by van 't Hof and this seems like quite a big step up with just one year of racing in cars under his belt but he's certainly not a bad driver.

Victor Martins is imho the best driver of this field but I'm not sure if ART is the team that can give him the title, they were clearly trailing Prema & Trident this year and I think you better be at one of those two teams to win the title.

Arthur Leclerc has no more excuses in 2022 if he is (as is assumed) staying for a second year with Prema in F3. He just had to mount a title challenge and with a second year at the best team he has to deliver the goods and win the title so the pressure is on him.

Red Bull duo Crawford & Edgar should also be title contenders if they manage to secure a seat at Prema & Trident. Both are promissing but I rate Crawford a bit above Edgar. Stanek could be a dark horse for the title considering he has quite a bit of experience now and even Bearman or Maloney could be title challengers in their rookie season and then there is Caio Collet off course who is quite a spectacular driver and very fast but his Alpine Jr. stablemate Martins is more regular.

In a last minute plot twist he got signed as a development driver for Williams, so he's staying in the F1/F2/F3 world.

We need another Enzo with E. Fittipaldi moving on to F2.

And who knows?  Maybe this 'son of' will prove a bit better.

Greg Saucy, possessor of the best name in the junior formulae, tops the times at Valencia in the F3 post-season test. Quite a few series veterans below him in the timesheets, so sounds like some impressive work. Star of the future? Is he aligned with one of the F1 junior programmes?

Maybe he could use a season of FRECA or something before moving up to FIA F3? He's only done one year of car racing and neither F4 UAE nor Euroformula Open is very competitive.

For a F3 rookie these days yes.

He looked great in FREC but he was racing 16 year olds.

Oliver Rasmussen won't do F3 this year, he has signed with Jota to do WEC LMP2 (with Jonathan Aberdein & Ed Jones as his team mates).

Roberto Faria won't do FIA F3 either, he will stay in GB3.

Filip Ugran has signed for Van Amersfoort but for the Euroformula Open Series (not impossible to combine that with FIA F3 though, Crawford did that last year but that's an expensive option).

On David Vidales: there is still some doubt whether he will stay another year in F. Regional or if he will move up with Campos to FIA F3 (if he finds the budget, personally I think it's better that he stays in F. Regional and moves up in '23 with a better team as Campos, he's a talented driver).

Do we know if the VAR takeover comes with personnel changes at the ex-HWA team?

No idea but I've read somewhere that Rafael Villagomez's dad has bought a part of the team (which seems to be a tendency these days)

I feel a Crawford/LeClerc/Martins championship battle coming.

Martins looks seriously good, Both Crawford and LeClerc showed days of great speed.  If ART can produce a car week in week out as good as Prema then Martins gets my vote...

Leclerc has the speed; he just needs to hook it all up consistently, which is easier said than done of course.

Don't forget Oliver Bearman: he will also be in the title battle. Trident has also got a good line-up. Smolyar has experience, Collet is extremely quick as well. Saucy will also be in the mix. Pizzi is also very talented and Marti is quick as well but they are in lesser teams. Hadjar will be competitive as well but probably not in the title battle at MP. Martins is the most talented driver of the field imho, Collet is not far of him.
