FIA inconsistency. Were the barriers damaged? Even if they were can’t see how it would have taken longer than this shambles.
How were they no penalties for Leclerc and Maloney?

FIA set precedent there. Applied penalties based upon timings at end of last non SC racing lap. That opens a huge can of worms for results of all previous races when there's been a late safety car.
It was just a normal countback. Red flag was shown when 16 laps was completed = results taken from lap 15. The drivers then completed another lap when they came to the pits after red flag was shown which is why live timing stood at 17 laps.

I think it should have been taken from lap 14, based on the dreadful wording of the regulation (which I assume is accidentally tautologous):It was just a normal countback. Red flag was shown when 16 laps was completed = results taken from lap 15. The drivers then completed another lap when they came to the pits after red flag was shown which is why live timing stood at 17 laps.
I think they ought to delete the word ‘penultimate’ there. If the race cannot be resumed the results will be taken at the end of the penultimate lap before the lap during which the signal to suspend the race was given.
Lap 16 was the lap the signal was given.
So lap 15 was the lap before the lap the signal was given.
So lap 14 was the penultimate lap before the lap the signal was given.
Classic FIA.

Bearman and Maloney were super (and what an end to the season for Maloney!), but I agree with others that Maloney should have received a penalty for forcing a driver of track (and/or Bearman shouldn’t have given the spot back). Bearman was just ahead, so deserved a car’s width, and Maloney pushed him out whilst locked up.
Fun season. Hope to see Bearman, Maloney, Hadjar and Martins in F2 next season.

I would suggest the driver most likely to be in F2 next season is Enzo Trulli.

There's always a difference on "how many laps have been completed?" and "on which lap drivers are?"
So they were on lap 17, meaning 16 laps had been completed, meaning 15 laps is the result.

Drivers bringing up Abu Dhabi 2021 just as they win the biggest title so far in their career shows just how abysmal the trust in the governing body and stewards is. Long, long way to go for redemption and I fully sympathize with Martins.
Also big congrats to him. I don't have time to follow all feeder series but his name was definitely on my to-watch list. Don't f*** this up Alpine...

All i could think of when I watched this is... How the f is it fair that this in theory can decide if a driver will get a super license or not.

Leclerc really has no one to blame but himself for not winning the title this year. He was by far the quickest driver early in the season (no doubt partly because of the Prema factor and partly because of the second year experience) before the rookies got up to speed later on but failed to take advantage of it. He definitely had more than his fair share of bad luck in quali but he threw away so many points through racing incidents or his own quali mistakes that I can't feel bad for him. Keen to see him get a shot in F2 though cause I feel like there is some potential there if he can get it all together.
Agree with those who are pumping the brakes on Bearman. He definitely came on strong towards the end of the season but didn't think he was all that impressive over the season as whole for a Prema F3 driver. Feel like Maloney and Hadjar were probably the best rookies overall. Hoping those 2 plus Bearman, Martins and Leclerc at the very least make the step up to F2. Plenty of others I feel would do a lot better than the current F2 grid too but it seems like there's always a bunch of pay drivers who stick around in F2

But Bearman go to F3 directly after F4 and this was not easy last years.

Crawford says he's going to F2 next year.
Got to be honest, not the first F3 driver that comes to mind when I think about who's likely to go to F2 next year, considering he was the lowest Prema driver in the standings.

I think Crawford will do fine in F2. I was impressed by him in F4 and Euroformula Open but maybe less so in FIA F3. Anyway, he's exciting to watch, so if he doesn't make it to F1 I hope he will consider Indycar.
