Here we refer frequently to chassis numbers.  Having a major tidy up here at home over the past 11 days - with many more stretching ahead - I just came across these two 1964 shots of - I believe - the prototype (or maybe the 2nd-off?) McLaren-Oldsmobile M1A built by Bruce McLaren Motor Racing.

The first shot shows the cockpit with the chassis plate  attached to the dash panel top left.

The second shot is an enlargement of the plate itself.

Just for interest.

Interesting photos.

Presumably the chassis plate "BMMR/2/64"  decodes as  "Bruce McLaren Motor Racing / Chassis No.2 / 1964" ?

Edit - According toe racingsportscars.com, this is its event history - only two documented starts, both by Dan Gurney.  It seems rather sparse, but somebody on this board will probably know for sure.

Considering that Gurney retired from Riverside with brake issues, could it be that the car was crashed beyond any help?

Dan's car at Riverside, race No 77 sponsored by 'K&B Aurora Model Car Racers' did have a central stripe over the tail deck around the engine intakes as just visible above...  From memory I thought that Dan drove Alan Brown's dark blue car at Brands '65?
