Very suspicious, I don’t believe for a second that they “haven’t downloaded it yet” very suspicious and a worrying development for F1.

I think it must be for PR reasons. Maybe release it on Thursday to build tension for the Qatar GP. Get more people talking about F1 throughout the week.
I don't think it matters too much what the actual footage shows, we've seen enough angles to know what happened.

It’s fun though. Feels like we’re having to lobby for the release of the Zapruder footage here.

Did you ever use dial-up? It takes some time.Hopefully we can agree that this is worthy of a separate thread. Regardless of what side of the argument you are why hasn’t the footage of the Hamilton / Verstappen incident been released.. first time I can remember this scenario occurring after such a major flashpoint..
Very suspicious, I don’t believe for a second that they “haven’t downloaded it yet” very suspicious and a worrying development for F1.
On a serious note I cannot remember when was the laat time it took them this long to release the footage. I guess they want some heads to cool off before they release it. Probably because they dismissed the whole thing too easily imho.

And besides, shouting into the Autosport forum will hardly get you what you seek. If you want something from F1, send a message to their twitter page or youtube channel as Autosport forum is not staffed by F1 representatives.

dunno about that, reading some the responses on here I think Christian Horner may have created an account ;)

For some reason they never released Bottas' forward-facing T-cam video from Imola this year. You know, the race where he had his accident with George Russell who got out of his car and felt that Bottas had intentionally run him off the track.
But I honestly think Verstappen's car may have been packed to go to Qatar before the video was downloaded... Either that or it will be in the onboard highlights video.

It's been an incredibly unpopular decision with the fans.
The FIA should not fall into the trap in having to defend verstappen. It ain't worth it for a regulator to take on that burden as it's not your fault.
We could also do with information regarding brake, throttle and steering inputs vs. the lap before.
How late did verstappen brake to the previous lap.
When did he go back on throttle.
Did he let go of pulling the wheel left, had he pulled left more before?
All questions that need answering to understand verstappens motive in the coming races, ie is he a racer or are there seeds of something else going on.
It's quiet serious actually as not only is a championship at stake but also the safety of the other drivers at future events.

Yes it should be? But I rather prefer the conspiracy and coverup angle.
There is nothing "still being downloaded" or that "didn't get downloaded before they packed it up to Qatar". These video feeds are transmitted to the FIA in real time.

Isn't this stuff on F1 TV....
They switched to the rearward facing camera on Max's car. And what the weirdest thing is, according to Masi, the stewards only have access to the cameras that are currently broadcasting as well, which means that probably nobody has that footage?

So much fuss and angst over such a non incident. Max did a bad thing. What next? Desperately trying to show that Max is even worse than Lewis?
I’ll tell you what, he’s definitely worse in profiting from these moves. He could learn a thing or two from the sgoat.

I think they've always had more cameras at a given time than airwave freqency to transmit it. That said, it's not the 80s any more and they ought to be able to record all data onboard for later downloading.

I think the credibility and integrity of Masi, the stewardship and the FIA is at stake here.

Well apparently they’re not transmitted to the FIA in real time. Or they are, and Masi is lying. Doesn’t seem like the type of bloke to be straight-up lying about it though. Incompetent, given the quote below, but not a liar.
Masi conceded that the forward facing footage could be a smoking gun, if, for example, it shows Verstappen steering towards Hamilton.
"Could be, absolutely. Possibly. But no, we didn't have access to it. And obviously, it's being downloaded. And once the commercial rights holder supplies it, we'll have a look."

Isn't it more likely this view was selected because through that point in the race, Hamilton had been around 1.5 seconds on average behind Verstappen for a large number of laps?

I haven't seen it, but I recall Ant saying it switched to the rear view just as the overtake was happening.

I read somewhere that it's simply not possible technically to have both sides (front and back) to record simultaneously. They switched to the back because obviously Lewis was behind him. So that's that...
They can't broadcast both simultaneously, but they do record both simultaneously and the "unused" recording can be downloaded from the car - see post 29 above.

The 5-7 seconds of footage has probably already been purchased by Netflix. Judging from how they showed the Grosjean crash.. they could easily make a 45 min episode out of it..
It's incredible that the FIA apparently has to barter with the "commercial rights holder" just to get footage for an investigation.
