Is there any official data by how much Mercedes actually failed the test? I remember only Toto saying it when he was very angry. It sounded like random number he pulled out of his head.

pulled out of his head :p.

Nope.  But the number may have been pulled from another part of their body. :drunk:

It does sound like bollocks to me,if I wonder if it’s something true, but misleading, for example an average taken across the whole width of the wing. So at the effected side it’s 1mm out, but the rest of the wing is fine, so overall a tiny 0.2mm.

The FIA agreed in the Stewards report that it bore the hallmarks of an assembly problem or damage, not an attempt to manufacture or modify a wing to be illegal.

It would be stupid for much less successful team to try something like that.

That's rich considering we are barely 2 weeks removed from Mercedes being disqualified for having an illegal wing.

Can RBR make one which doesn’t break😂😂😂😂

No official data. It was said that the gauge was only passing trough the opening when pushed, and only in one side of the wing. So no way to say 0.X mm. Mercedes later said the reason for the fail was that two screws were loosen, probably due to vibrations.

Bad luck, but only cost them few points.

By 0.2mm? That's how much they failed the wing test, plus Mercedes had mitigation for 0.2mm. Given Red Bull have been repairing their rear wing in Parc fermé, for wings if judged by Mercedes standards would have also been disqualified, but I digress. Back on topic, the rear wing flexing is not seen in the real world. Even by you.

Even at your local autocross , being one point under weight means you are disqualified. At the pinnacle of motorsport , being off by 0.22 on a component like the rear wing , is a pretty big indictment at least in my opinion. And it shows how close to the sun they are willing to fly.

For goodness sake - it was an error by the team. Zero intent to cheat, and a large punishment.

And for being .2 mm off, on 1 of the several testing points. That's about the thickness of a fingernail I think. Failed the test, penalty deserved, but seriously it seems unlikely that is the source of Mercedes speed.
