The Jeddah layout is also strange considering the lengths Spa is taking to improve safety.

Spa now has carte blanche to put walls on both side of Raidillon.

I don't think Spa grease Liberty's palm quite as well as Jeddah to be able to do that....

it occurred to me that this race was the first time I'd seen Hermann Tilke, let alone heard him talk.

When you think about it, we could race the entire season in an environmentally friendly F1 in Saudi. They can tarmac a huge square of land and just shuffle the concrete blocks around every few weeks...

I thought it was okay. Don't mind a more challenging track that invites a bit more chaos. We have plenty of races that a few can stand out for various reasons. Now naturally it needs to be safe, but don't mind a track with harsher punishments.

Most of the endless kinks don't challenge the drivers or cars in any meaningful way, so could be removed for better sight lines. It could easily be turned into more of a Surfers Paradise type layout and keep its fast character.

Exactly. These kinks are similar to the final sector at Interlagos, albeit much more dangerous. I can accept an element of danger when it adds to the driving challenge, but this is danger just for the sake of it.
