Yes, the last couple of races were not clean of Max. The Merc had so much overspeed, that he can only defend in that way. To be honest, I did see a lot of dirty moves this year of Hamilton too, but also those were OK. I think in the end they are pretty much even this year. Max will lose out in the last race, the Merc is unbeatable the 2nd half of the season and I think Max realised that last race.

Now I hope for 22 the stewards are getting more transparent and honest.

If the stewards start applying the correct penalties I'm afraid Max won't have much to work with, unless his race craft improves significantly, he seems incapable of a clean duel at present.

It's really quite ugly to watch.

Excuses.

It doesnt help defending the way he do racking up penalties. He is lucky Bottas hasnt been in contention these last GP or else he would have lost out even more due to penalties.

Oh and Lewis is only returning the favour from earlier in the season (Spain, Imola, Monza L1). Remember how some RB fans stated that it was a Mistake from Hamilton to try on the outside when Max pushed him wide? :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

That is what he needs.. he needs to end up in the wall a few times (safely of course)

Well that happened, but he still doesn't appear to have got the message.

I was more upset by this incident than the Turn 26 incident where they collided. There would be no point in watching F1 if everybody would drive like Verstappen did on this occasion and at Interlagos.

An interesting quote from Max:

"I think lately we're talking more about white lines and penalties than actually proper Formula 1 racing and that's, I think, a little bit of a shame."

I'm reading this as "white lines aren't important - there shouldn't be penalties for going off track." Am I reading this incorrectly?

And yet he did the exact same thing in Brazil and wasn't penalised.

But he should have been. This is part of the problem. Masi’s inconsistency that left all drivers, apart from Verstappen unclear about what was acceptable. Max assumed it was vindication of his move , so did it again. It should be pretty clear that getting ahead of your opponent by late braking and taking the corner too quickly which means you run them off the track is not on. This is what caused the Silverstone incident too and Hamilton got a penalty. But Max has done this many more times than Lewis this season and his general driving standards have been unsportsmanlike since he joined F1, which is a shame, as he is an amazing driver

Just wondering if there are any videos of Max actually going wheel to wheel for a few corners, or does he always fail in this regard.

Only a couple really spring to mind.

Silverstone 2019 with Charles but they were both all over the road.

Best example is probably Malaysia 2016 against Ricciardo. Both were very fair but they were 1-2 with no title on the line.

Imagine anyone in any other sport saying that.

It's too far and should be penalised. Same opinion I had of Brazil.

But.

I can see why he does it at Jeddah - it would follow that he 'should have' got away with it after the ruling he was given at Interlagos (no penalty).

The seeds were sown with previous stewarding decisions that drivers think it's ok to try that.

We now know that for all his brilliance he is no where near the complete package. Its also a worrying trait of delusion as if he's repeating what Horner and Marko say.

Obviously the same as what he did in Brazil. For a top level driver he makes a lot of mistakes. Almost as if they're not mistakes.

It's not a mistake, it's a deliberate dive bomb. He doesn't care if he can't take the corner, it's all about blocking/crashing the other driver so that he can't overtake. He should have got a penalty in Brazil, he didn't and we saw the result last race. He think it's fine. Very similar in Monza as well, he dive bombed.
