I'm very sad to hear this, I knew Rex through Bob Dance and Beaky Sims. In fact I had earmarked him for a 'Mechanic's Gallon ' podcast but he was too ill to take part. Condolences to his family and friends.

Also had a spell at the Tyrrell Racing Organisation pre F1 days. Sad news, but unfortunately expected. Poor chap had been ill for some while.
Fantastic and unsung service to the sport. RIP

My sister, who lives in Wymondham, sent me the following:

Lotus.jpg

"Above picture was taken at a friend and neighbour Rex Hart’s funeral which we attended yesterday. He was for years a mechanic with the racing team for Lotus. In acknowledgement of his long service, not only did they trailer Emerson Fittipaldi’s Lotus to the funeral but also Clive Chapman wrote some very kind words to be read out and some of the Lotus staff attended."
