In his first season.

Interesting take.

First time Lewis had a shot at the WC he cracked, first time Max had the chance he didn't.

You literally twist every single thing to highlight Lewis in the worst possible light, purely because of who he is. Any particular reason?

So in his first season, he ‘cracked’, by beating his WDC * 2 teammate and Verstappen didn’t, in his 7th season, with his pliant lap dog team mate.

Again, interesting take.

What Hamilton did during his rookie season was nothing short of incredible, no matter how you spin it. He could be blamed somewhat for what happened in china, but i would put it down 90% on Mclaren for their moronic strategy.

However if he lost the the title in 08, a lot of things could have changed for him. He had an outstanding season, much better than Massa and Kimi, but in the last race he was bad. The only reason Glock was relevant in the end is because Lewis made an unforced error and let Vettel pass him.

His whole career could have taken a very different trajectory is the rain intensity increased just 20-30 seconds later than it did.

Most people consider 2007 a stronger year than 08 for Hamilton…

I think the context of the discussion was the narrative that Max choked at the end of the season. The response is that actual choking would look more like a China 07 mistake. Or Eddie Irvine when he was the #1 after MSC’s crash in 99. With races like Nurburgring etc.

As for Max and Lewis, Max was better the first half of the season, but had to drive " desperately"  the last 3 races as Mercedes just became unbeatable pretty much. The only mistake big mistake he had that can be put 100% on him was his shunt during Q in Saudi, but as i said before he and red bull were getting pretty desperate, as it seemed the WDC was slipping away.

And without the shenanigans from Masi, Lewis would have won the WDC is a fairly comfortably, yet still Max did have a better season, no doubt.

Looks like saying Max choked in the last 2 races gives some sort of satisfaction to people.

Race - 2,2,2,1

Qualifying - 2,2,3,1

If a driver performs like this when he is cracking under pressure then I will take it. You can call his antics to be desperate specially in Jeddah but, not cracking under pressure. It was clear that he knew his car was not enough fast enough and tried some desperate measures to win and I do not agree with some of his moves in Jeddah but, he did not look like driver who is cracking.

People like to bring up Jeddah qualifying, imo it was still better than Sochi by Lewis..that was a sloppy mistake..Jeddah was at least more on limit.

Hamilton on balance was probably better in the last 4 races and I will not disagree with it all things considered(he also, had better car imo) but, saying Max cracked probably just makes people sleep better I guess.

He wasn’t 2231 in qualifying, at Qatar he was 7th…

If the brake test wasn't a deliberate thing, then it could be seen as cracking under pressure. Certainly if the consequences had been greater, it couldn't be so easily glossed over.

You're brilliant at comparing apples with oranges.

Had Max been punished the way he should have been in Saudi - after a horrible weekend of literally cracking under pressure - this wouldn't even be a discussion. He can count himself lucky he didn't blow the World Championship that weekend.

What makes you think it wasn't deliberate? Some nice old-school shenanigans to put your opponent on the edge   ;)

Liberty have struck gold.

Formula One's popularity is growing

Possibly because he's not Dutch.

I don't know whether it was or not. If it was deliberate, it was a really bad decision in the pressure situation anyway, so the same applies.

Oh dear. One did it as a rookie, the other as a seasoned 7th championship, 130 ish race pro.

I love this take on it though, it’s great work.

Well it was Lewis who first made the comparison.

Karun's really made an entire career out of being a ride buyer for one season.

Seriously, this ... and he just drones nonsense, on and on and on.
