So it's circulating for some time, fake news unlikely

According to the French media, the details of the investigation are still unclear but it would be damage committed on the night of December 18 to 19. A detonating device would indeed have been placed on the ledge of a window of this architectural firm.

After some research, inquiries allegedly got hold of the license plate of a car used that night by the criminals.

Also according to the Team, Alesi would have presented himself to the police station, a few hours after his brother, José, was arrested.

It's in most French media now:

https://www.20minute...place-garde-vue

En garde à vue = In custody in French law...  :(

The article says he showed up to the commisariat on his own.

Selling his Ferrari F40 to fund his son's career should be enough to be taken into custody  :rotfl:

Slightly fractured version from Google Translate:

Former F1 driver Jean Alesi was taken into police custody on  Monday by the departmental security of Avignon , in Vaucluse , 20 Minutes from a source close to the file, confirming information from the Team .

The former Ferrari driver is heard alongside his brother as part of an investigation for damage committed in an architectural firm near Avignon on the night from Saturday to Sunday. According to a police source, a detonating device was placed on the windowsill of an architectural firm, and the detonation would have caused some damage without causing injuries.

The license plate of the vehicle used by the suspects led, according to the same source, to Jean Alesi's brother. The former F1 driver spontaneously presented himself to the police station on Monday, while his brother was arrested to be auditioned.

Merde alors!

Alesi talks about a "bad joke"

Jean Alesi, who completed 13 seasons in Formula 1 for a grand prix victory, explained that he only wanted to play a "bad joke" on his brother-in-law, in the process of separation with his sister, ensuring not to be in dispute with him. The brother-in-law, who says he has "no worries" with Jean Alesi, has however filed a complaint for the degradation of the frame of his window, said Mr. Wolff. Jean Alesi's son and his friend have also been taken into custody, to determine whether they are not complicit in this act.

I'd bet that that office was central to one of Hugo Boss Hogg's illegal operations, and them Alesi boys were just trying to put a stop to it.

So, come on, give 'em a break!

They're just two good ol' boys, never meaning no harm.

Plus, Kumiko's got her Daisy Dukes on.

Plus, they painted over the Iron Cross on the General Petain.

:)

If FFSA is ruled correctly, Alesi should be fired from his mandates.

assess the source as you see fit, but seems to summarize in English all of the information posted in the thread. I suppose more clearer information will come out.

https://scuderiafans...ing-his-sister/

Bad misadventure for Jean Alesi, the former Formula 1 driver who also raced with Scuderia Ferrari, arrested in France at Villeneuve-le’s-Avignon on charges of damage with explosives. In fact, according to the former driver’s claim, he would have thrown a firecracker at the window of his brother-in-law’s office last Sunday, as he was separating from his sister.

This is so confusing.

Does this topic have anything to do with Masi’s creditability, Abu Dhabi last 4 mins, Max’s “paper” title or Lewis’ “mental state”?

If No why is it being discussed? 😉

Seems incredibly minor, tbh. Throwing a firecracker at a window is something kids do all the time, so yea it's childish behavior but is a little surprising that it'd lead to an arrest.

If Jean had thrown the EXPLOSIVE DEVICE at a racetrack, would Masi deploy the safety-car or would he just red-flag the race?

Until information to the contrary is released I’m going to assume they were carrying out some sort of Mission Impossible style infiltration that went wrong, rather than boring messing about with fireworks.

Ugh, what poor judgement.

This is from the Agence France Presse (AFP) and provides a bit more detail:

1. Alesi apparently told police it's a prank gone wrong;

2. The Vice-Prosecutor from Nîmes (the judicial district) thinks it's odd that it was done at night and without the knowledge of the victim (i.e. noboby bragging about it...);

3. Alesi didn't think the firecracker would blow up the way it did...

This.

So many cool elements.  Ferrari. Ex-Formula One driver. Explosive device.  Infiltration into a facility.  Unknown history with a mystery person.  This isn't a prank, it's the plot for a show.

Sounds more like an attempt at intimidation rather than a prank.

I’m sure that’s not right.

Totally unrelated question; but doesn’t he have sicilian roots?

Sounds rather like intimidation, perhaps without intent to cause serious harm but intimidation nonetheless.

Yes....I remember it being stated that his family "had to leave" Sicily....but I can find no references to this. Jean was born in Avignon, France.
