IC. the race is about more scores.


A better performing car should bring more points. Ricciardo underperformed, but the car wasn't great either. Beating Alpine to 4th place would not have meant we had a great season.

Don't think anyone would argue tge team had a good season, if they finished 4th.

44th or 5th, was an OK season. Some highs, some lows.

I think 4th is the realistic expectation for the team, but with a few more big weekends.

I would take being great at some tracks and terrible at others mixed in with the 7th place starts.

Honestly, Ricciardo‘s performance these two years remains mystery to me. Ricciardo moving back to RedBull adds a bit of reason to think that he is perhaps not as good (or bad) as it appeared, in terms of his skills and motivations.
Quite frankly I do not really know the differences of drivers efforts for a lap in a different F1 car, as the top four to five teams go around the 5km track with the difference of say about one point five second. What made Ricciardo consistently lap behind Norris in the different cars?
Could Ricciardo score as many points as Norris if he were to be in this year’s RedBull, because the car suits Ricciardo better? RedBull went around the track fastest, but often, fastest cars are not easiest to drive. Now that new reg had come in, the cars build for these two entirely different regs must feel truly different, while often Norris was in front of Ricciardo.
I know that 36 was not the car left the fourth best results, but how bad the car really is, is not made clear. Could you make this clear to me what Max-Perez and Lando-Dan did differently on the track, say for example at Bercelona?

I said at the start of this season that 36 has unit system that allow systematic upgrades… , which obviously did not corresponded with how the season unfolded. But I said Mercedes to go down and Ferrari may struggle, which was sort of correct. Next season I think you will agree that Ferrari has issues as it needs to organize both sporting awa technical fronts. Alpine and Ferrari could hold the key for McLaren to climb up the championship. Plus with new 37 with much more imaginative aero solutions, the season is wide open.


Ferrari don't have serious technical issues. They built a great car for 2022, and have had enough time to adjust the '23 model to fix their issues after the TD.

The engine is already very powerful and just needs reliability refinement.

Solving their strategy issues can be much simpler than McLaren building a true front runner next season. I do hope that McLaren get back into real podium contention at least.

Another problem about that is the dark horse of Aston Martin, with Alonso. I can see a lot of Norris vs Alonso battles next year on the fringes of the top 5.
