But it was a cracking race, I had low expectations being Paul Ricard and all.

Again a good race so far

The second FRECA race at Zandvoort was red-flagged on the second lap. Pietro Delli Guanti and Esteban Masson were seen entering Gerlachbocht (T2) side by side. As soon as they disappeared out of shot they both went into the gravel trap (there was a puff of smoke, so perhaps they banged wheels) – and Delli Guanti's car somehow cleared the Tecpro barrier and ended up in the grass on the other side. The barrier lacks a debris fence at some places. Three marshals were seen rushing to the scene and an ambulance was deployed, but no marshals, photographers or drivers were injured as far as I know. https://youtu.be/SHBPIBWcJro

Yeah it was quite scary, I was watching from the top op de paddock building. Didn't see it happen but when I saw ambulances going there in a hurry and then seeing the car BEHIND the barrier caused a tense atmosphere.


What was lovely though was seeing JPM keeping a close track of the livetiming and being totally invested in the race. Unfortunately my attempt at taking a quick photo with him failed!

Thanks for posting that, it was a very serious accident. I'm so glad that Pietro delli Guanti (well I call him 'Peter with the gloves', that's what it means translated from Italian) was okay. This video also shows that Masson was okay, that's a relief.

Wow, I was not expecting to see a full cartwheel over the Tecpro and the car coming to rest upside down! The car didn't even touch the barrier! (Edit: The left rear wheel did land on the concrete barrier behind the Tecpro.)

The F4 thread seems to be missing for 2022? I tried to find it recently as well. Off course: as I've said the past 2 years on this forum: Antonelli is the next Senna. Don't forget  Nikola Tsolov, Rafael Camara and Arvid Lindblad (another phenomenon, will make his F4 debut as well): they are F1 potentials as well.

It's the final round of the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine (certified by FIA, presented by...)

Race 1 will start in 70 minutes (14:10 local time/CEST).

Championship standings:
Beganovic 255
Minì 217
Aron 216
David 208
etc.

To keep their championship hopes alive, Minì and Aron have to finish on the podium today, and David has to win the race.

• If Beganovic is P9, Minì and Aron have to finish P2.
• If Beganovic is P8, David is out of contention even if he wins the race.
• If Beganovic is P7–P5, Minì and Aron have to win the race or Beganovic will win the title.
• If Beganovic is P4–P1 he will win the title no matter what.

Luckily it's Mugello, so going wide means running into gravel/grass.

Good season by Beganovic. Perhaps not the most impressive of champion seasons, but very consistent throughout. And I think the key was a stronger qualifying performance than last year.

I'd say the top 4 drivers of this championship (Beganovic, Mini, Aron & David) have the talent to reach F1 (but probably not all of them will make that at all because of lack of F1 seats) and are truly quality drivers. Mini is for sure the best one of them potential wise and the one most likely to reach F1 of that quartet.

Yeah, sadly he does not have any full championship last 3 year. And i don't think it will be better in 2023, if it only will not be some russian championship.
