Hello. Thanks for letting me join the forum. I’ve never been a racer but have always had bikes. Currently a 2021 T120 and a carb Blackbird. I found this forum while looking up the racing journalist and commentator Chris Carter who died in 2019.
As an apprentice in Derby in the late 60’s I would hang round his Top Gear bike shop on St Thomas road, occasionally getting a car ride with him to the m/c club at Hilton.
I remember he had a Starmaker powered sprint bike on display at the shop that belonged to John Waters. A R-R mechanic who I worked with much later.
The story I remember is that John held several sprint records with this bike but, try as I might, I can’t find any official records of this. Does anybody here have any recollection of this? Or am I now completely senile?
