No surprise. The non-reporting on the AD debacle this far in is indicative of their lack of integrity.

It's just as jaw dropping that those incompetend nuts at Liberty don't manage to set up a proper launch event for all teams. Fiddeling with all kinds of things but they don't get the basic **** done. One of the most anticipated launch season in years and they don't make anything out of it. Utter incompetence on full display.

Embarassing.just to highlight a few of the many
And then they will waste half a year explaining how this was the car but not THE car to people watching and saying "WTF this is different car!?"

But how many casual fans, who the media pander to, will actually notice?

Obviously they haven't worked out how to monetise it yet, so aren't focused on it. Once they do however you can bet they will make a big deal out of it
It’s disappointing that reputable publications are simply towing the line that this is the new car. Are they afraid that team access will be cancelled unless favourable stories are published?
Tbh they are probably more afraid that reporting a 'sponsor launch/livery reveal' rather than a 'new car' will result in less clicks/page views...

Liberty do want it, and probably know what it will look like, but the teams want their day in the sun - F1 tried to make it happen in 2018 but didn't get any support. Why do you think teams make sure they don't launch on the same day as others these days? They have whole social media trends planned out, and doing it on the same day as 9 other teams will just water that down.

Not many for sure but its still complete opposite where sport is going for.But how many casual fans, who the media pander to, will actually notice?
You had suggestion to show of every new part on the car to the fans before weekend, but on the other hand you have dummy cars by FIA getting bought by teams and presented as their new cars.
Part of charm of these pre testing presentation is to have analysis and some buzz regarding different directions they went with car but this is just weird.
"Hey guys on 10th of Feb please join to see RB18, our new 2022 challanger"
*Actually not a car at all, just dummy car of what you have been looking at for 2 years now

There was a time car launches were a pretty extravagant affairs then became less so and more casual and in some cases basically non-existent in terms of an event. If a recall correctly, which I might not, there was criticism that they were wasteful. The tide always shifts, so making car launches a very big thing is in fashion again. Whether Liberty helps the teams re-organize things to help each team have their day in sun is up to them, but in this case I would put criticism towards the teams and not Liberty. As for the media specifically, I just think it is sloppy.
EDIT: If Liberty was to help organize something, a 3 day event window would be the way to do it in my opinion. Call it whatever but it would be one big party instead of a bunch of small ones.

The Race podcast called them out on it, they were not impressed either, "it should have been called a sponsorship reveal" and they did it to get eyes on that,
also calling out the fact RB promoted it as a fan engaged event too

Felt sorry for Gary Anderson having to earnestly analyse and describe a show car as if it were real to make his word count.

There's a very simple explanation for this, but everyone has it wrong.
Ferrari had to use an old uncompetitive engine for 2020 after being found using a dodgy cheat.
Redbull has to use the FIA show car for 2022 as part of the deal that lets Max keep the dodgy championship.

While launches in general were more extravagant at that time yeah, I think that one in particular pushed the boat out by very deliberate design. The McLaren-Marlboro association was about as iconic in motorsport as you can get, so they wanted something really over the top for their new colour scheme and sponsor to help break with that.
And crazy to think one of their future husbands was an anonymous F3000 backmarker at the time

I wasn’t sure he quite understood what was going on it was like he’d filed his report and then someone whispered in his ear that he’d wasted his time
Kept repeating ‘can only review what’s put in front of me’… nobody cares about an analysis of the showcar

Nah, it was Eddie Murphy.
(I know that Mel B didn’t marry him but I just love the image of him driving in F3000 lol)
