In the pic of the Alfa above, is anyone else seeing an opening on the edge of the floor (just below left of the Orlen signage on the sidepod) with a tunnel then heading back to the diffuser area?

Do I see the return of the blade roll hoop?

To me it looks more like a curl of the floor.

Looks like it curves back like a tunnel to the rear centre

What I see first are the huge sidepod openings compared to the others so far, unless the images are fooling me.

Looks like the AM sidepod concept? Sidepod inlets look huge though.

Doing the same as AM from the looks of that undercut beneath the sidepod.

Hmmm... guess it could be a fence of some kind as well. Not sure though - need more pics.

EDIT: I am seeing references on twitter to a floor edge wing or flap that is apparently allowed within a designated area under the regs so I guess this must be it then. Shame, I quite liked the idea of a sneaky extra tunnel feeding the diffuser :p

BTW it's very amusing that they are using camouflage on a "filming day".

I enlarged the front view picture, bad quality, but you can see the inlets of the sidepods. Think they have a more triangular shape than AM.

I thought that they were doing their own gearbox casing this year ? So the Ferrari (and Haas) may be different.

Yeah could be a way to get extra airflow through to the diffuser. Good pickup

Another team going for the double floor solution and huge undercut.

Car looks very bulky though

The car has many ugly deformations, starting with the nose tip... and the ugly blade roll hoop returns, with the last team that used it.

But there are many bold design choices.

Rear suspension is an Alfa suspension, not a Ferrari one.

It seems like they ditched the centerline cooling layout and moved everything back in the sidepods, hence the big sidepod openings and the simple roll hoop inlets...

Yup

Its fat because 90% of the cooling has been moved to the sidepod rads. Look behind the rool hoop and what do you see? That's right, nothing. The engine cover doesn't seem to exist. This allows for a huge amount of space here for the air to work the rear and beam wings harder.

Front wing is very interesting. Look how they're still trying to hard to get a good outwash.

The tunnel inlets look very unique too.

It almost resembles something from the mid-80s with all the visual weight down at the bottom.

everything looks unconventional wow

Is that front wing profile even legal? Feels like they're trying to be cheeky and induce a Y250...

No rear cooling exit (or very small?), not able to say if they are using the gills, but also the air temperature was reportedly very low.

Nice to see different solutions.. Hope they get it right. But, isn't it called C40?

It was supposed to be but they've decided to avoid the confusion.

Front tyres look barely 60-65% width wise as compared to rears on this year's cars..Is the ratio different to last year? Higher noses, fatter rears really make this year's cars look understeery with dead front end to my eyes..

Good news for Ferrari fans - new PU needs less cooling perhaps? :)

It may be too late to copy solutions before the start of the season but you still delay your opponents by a week or two should they want to copy your solution mid-season (or even for next year- they will have less time to master it).

Car has the biggest side pod openings since forever and gills all along the way. Not really true signs of an engine that needs less cooling.

Like the Aston the Alfa also makes liberal use of cooling gills over the side pods.

Of course... It doesn't have any rear cooling exit
