Lots of interesting info here including that you can still drive on the roads that made the circuit.

Replaced by Mount Panorama: Bathurst’s Original Racetrack – The Race Torque

An interesting sidelight...

Bathurst City Council learned very early on that it cost less to tar-seal roads than to continually have to grade them. Not every road got sealed, but there were more sealed roads in the town area than in many other town.

The Vale circuit missed out, however.

I assume that most Aussies like me had not heard of this circuit previously.

It must have been big time in its day to run The 1933 Australian Grand Prix for motorbikes and the 1934 Australian Tourist Trophy for bikes.

It noted the roads are still there I must make the effort to get out and see it.

It probably depends, Terry...

People who were interested in bikes would be more likely to have known about it. Depending on their interest in bikes.

I first learned of it in 1965 and drove around it in my Citroen Light 15. Years later I went around it again to show it to Denis Watt. But it was a former Bathurst resident, Mike Kable, who told me of it.

Mike Kable's family lived near the lefthand turn off Perthville Road
