Saw him perform superbly in the tragic 1958 German GP. Poetry in motion, indeed.

Echoed; a charming man, who wears his talent lightly.

Happy Birthday Mr Brooks

Likewise from me. I never saw him race, but my father raved about him, and Sir Stirling's comments about choosing him and Jim Clark as his ideal drivers says it all. 90 years young - and hopefully still enjoying life!

Many happy returns to CAS Brooks! One of the most under-rated drivers of the postwar years by non-enthusiats of history.Congratulations to Tony Brooks on his 90th Birthday.

When the rain began I had just followed the Type 15 BRM down to the collection area, enjoying its noise. They parked it between the Blitzen Benz and the Connaught B type, which had been abandoned by its crew with an umbrella over the cockpit to keep the rain out. When the cloudburst really got going everyone (including me) ran for shelter. After about fifteen minutes the rain eased a bit, so I came back to see if anything was about to happen, but the cars were still deserted. Suddenly, the umbrella on the Connaught moved, and a brown-helmeted head appeared - Mr Brooks had been in there all the time. The rain increased again, and he disappeared back under his umbrella.

I only met him once, Goodwood 2017. Came across as a genuinely nice man, happy to chat to anyone who approached him.

I'm told by my mum that Tony Brooks was very friendly and helpful when she needed something to display or excite the kids when she taught at a primary school down the road from his car dealership in Surrey. Whenever we were visiting my dad used to point it out as we drove past.
Wish him a very happy 90th.
