The combination of Martin and Jack Wheeler at the Targa Florio 1966 until 1973, firstly with the Sprite '66 until '70, then Jerboa for a couple of years and finally the Daren were surely one of the great amateur racing adventures.
Martin of course started his racing hobby as Harry Martin so as to remain under the parental radar.

I do remember him as both Harry Martin and Martin Davidson, particularly racing a Mini at Brands.

Both Martin Davidson and Jack Wheeler epitomised a very British kind of racing enthusiast - apparently endowed with unlimited optimism and just enjoying every moment of their racing lives. Their trips to the Targa Florio were by themselves testimony to a can-do, life on a shoestring approach so very rare these days.
Rest easy. At risk of repeating myself yet again in recent, dark, days may I express my sincere condolences to Martin's family and many friends.
