You busy this weekend?
I am.
But that’s OK.
Because so is IMSA.
That means I have 12 hours of racing to listen to while I work.
Yeah, it’s time for the
12 Hours of Sebring
I may not even be posting here through much of the race but that sure as hell doesn’t mean I won’t be following. Bahrain and Texas being this weekend means we won’t see any superstar crossover, but that doesn’t mean the race won’t be worth watching. Hell, between F1 qualifying and IndyCar practice and whatever the NASCAR is doing this weekend, you don’t even have to watch the whole thing! You can crack open a beer and recline on your back porch as you bask in the glory of Mercedes steamrolling everyone and pretending to be surprised about it, then watch Jimmie Johnson put it in the wall for the third time, then watch a bunch of rowdy fans throw some beer cans at Kyle Busch (I didn’t say they were Rowdy fans), and then come back to Sebring to find that the running order has been inverted and your favorite drivers in all five classes are out of the race in a monumental collision at Turn 10 because one of the LMP3 drivers was busy watching something in Green Park (they don’t call them “Viewing Mounds” for nothing).
Are you sold yet?
No?
Well WEC and hypercars are there, too.
In fact, here’s THE WHOLE DAMN SCHEDULE!
If you’re in the US, Peacock it. If you’re international, try IMSA.tv. If you’re not on this planet, well, look around you because you’re probably at the track right now and you’re so drunk you forgot.
Get the picture? Let’s have some fun.
I have to do this because picutres are worth 1000 words and I can’t type that many.

Fantastic thread and intention - Sebring is always one of the absolute gems of the year.
See y'all IMSA aficionados on Saturday for some classic Sebring DPi sendoff.

Great OP Afterburner, I love the thread title.
Really looking forward to this, will be watching it online while watching F1 and Indycar on the TV. I've watched Le Mans for a while now, but this is the first year I'll be watching the whole IMSA series, thanks to finding out they stream it live on their website and thoroughly enjoying the Daytona 24hrs.
Rookie question, is there an easy to find an entry list for this weekends race?

It's gonna be great, and we've got F3 with the F1 circus, and MotoGP too if you like two wheels. it's almost too much motorsport!

Thanks, great to have Seabass racing, I really miss him in Indycar, and will of course be watching JPM and his son with interest. it's quite cool how endurance racing gives father and son racing drivers a chance to compete together in the same car, I remember watching the Brundles and Mansells racing together at Le Mans, is there any others and has a father and son (or even a daughter) ever won at this kind of level?

Glick has been pretty quick around Sebring so far, I wonder if they'll be a real contender in the race? Would love to see that car take a win this season.
Surely Toyota is sandbagging? I almost can't believe it.

It seems Lopez put a 1.49.174 at the end but got screwed by the red flag?

We usually do this for the endurance events as it quickly becomes a race chatter thread, rather than news about entries, etc which belong in the other thread.

I will always remember Jose Maria Lopez for being the driver who’d allegedly signed with USF1.
Not alledgedly, he did in fact sign a contract to drive F1 for them but off course the car never materialised. Lopez was also a former Renault F1 test driver (2006).

Very exciting news here in Oxfordshire, I have spotted a car in the work car park with an IMSA sticker in the rear window. Going to have to lurk in order to locate/intercept new sportycar fwend.

That second shunt was absolutely brain dead from Lopez. How can you drive back that fast? They guy lost his head after the first incident.

Just saw that crash on the front page. Just goes to show that when your car is damaged you can't just bomb around to get back to the pits. Could have been really nasty.
PS. You might want to check your font colour settings, ARTGP. Your post was unreadable.

They are over a lap ahead with less than two hours remaining, I think they will take the trade.

Not sure which thread to post in, but this has the better title so here I am. Been catching up on the WEC race, what was Lopez thinking? the first hit was bad enough, but to then floor it back with a damaged front end was so reckless, I'm not a racing driver but even I know to slow down when my car is knackered so it has a chance of getting fixed. Dude should drive a classic as a daily like I do and he'd soon learn how to nurse a car home.
P.S Loving the race so far. More races to watch and get into is never a bad thing, I'm officially a fan.

It was like he was Sim racing and thought there was no possibility that his car might be damaged. Absolutely crazy.

Earl Bamber just made a pretty big blunder. He clipped an LMP3 and got a penatly for it... which has cost him the lead.
