It's a dumb idea, but could definitely be rescued by turning it into a race in something like spec Miatas or the like.  Things definitely would get out of hand and the mayhem would well be worth it.  And yes, anything to try to keep up with the silliness that is Japanese baseball is a worthwile endeavour.  They definitely get the point that this stuff is supposed to be entertainment, and needs to focus on that.

Hey, you missed out Otmar Szafnauer! Unless he isn't really the Alpine principal.

Anyway, this is a really silly idea but team bosses have been celebrities, of sorts, since forever so they should go for it.

Could you imagine "Death Ray" Wyer, Tony Vandervell or even Neubauer going-in for this nonsense?

Yeah, I'd rather have grid girls, thanks

You cannot have that, that's sexist.

But let the team principals parade with umbrellas in tutus 😁

Can anyone imagine Patrick Head under these circumstances?

You see, there is the problem in a nut-shell.  Sir Patrick was never a Team Principal, that was always Sir Frank.  Some of the people that are thought to be TPs, like Laurence Stroll, aren't.

Still, if this is a success (however that would be measured??) maybe they could have a Race Engineers' parade bus, and a Team Dieticians' parade bus, and maybe, if we are really very, very good, a Sky Commentators' parade bus.  Driven by Max and commentated upon by Lewis.  We can only hope...

LOL at the opposition to this. Clearly it's a byproduct of the Netflix effect, but so what? It's not like this parade will take the place of a support race or something, it's just an event for the spectators and I think it'd be kinda funny to see all of these bigwig millionaires with extremely busy day to days standing around on a flatbed waving at the fans. Seems like a fun thing, no harm done.

I was thinking the same thing. It's probably just going to be a second truck following the drivers one.

And why shouldn't the TP's get more recognition? It's really harmless, and quite honestly, the only part most of us probably watch is the actual race.

I really hope people are voting for Guenther Steiner because he is funny and not because people think he is the best team principle... he is by far the worst, proceeding over both the Rich Energy and Uralkali debacles and if he had gone into this year with the driver line up he planned Haas would of still not scored points with what is possibly the fourth fastest car. Magnussen is making him look like the hero that he most certainly isn't.

The question was for peoples' favourite team principle, not the best team principle.

And does he make the funding decisions? I would have thought that would be Gene, and Guenther deals with the day-to-day running of the team and personnel.

I guess the real purpose of the idea is to plaster the side of the bus with sponsors.

Parading the principals seems a complete waste of time to me, but it's theirs to waste and doesn't hurt anyone. Just can't imagine many being that interested. From the stands you barely see them anyway, and the vehicle goes past much quicker than you expect.

They should do a fan vote on which TP gets paraded round the track and have rotten fruit thrown at them. That would be fun.

They are too far away to be able to throw that far. I'd suggest putting them in stocks in an accessible area would be more fun.

Finnish F1 reporter told the viewers that in Austalia GP Günther Steiner is receiving more cheers and requests for selfies/autographs than Alonso. That's the Netflix effect and the reason we will have the team principal's bus, I presume.

According to the poll in this thread, Capito and Szafnauer must have sleepless nights.

F1's core demographic no longer identifies with the youthful 41-year-old Alonso and has moved on to the team bosses?

Thank you for your interest in Hype-Train Tours.

The Team Principal's Bus is not officially a part of Hype Train Tours but rather a subsidiary of Struggle Bus Tours.  Currently, Toto Wolff is the leading personality on the official Struggle Bus though it seems the Team Principal's Official Bus Gunther Steiner is the leader.  We will work hard to consolidate this discrepancy.

Please come to us for all of your Hype-Train (Struggle Bus) Needs.

Albert Fabrega on Twitter: "El desfile de los directores de equipo antes de la carrera, se ha eliminado de los horarios del GP de Miami. Me parece bien. Team principals parade before the race has been removed from Miami's GP timetable. Sounds good to me. #f1 #F12022" / Twitter

The parade has been cancelled.

Horner is sad, no one else cares.

Oh that’s disappointing. I was quite looking forward to this bit of choreographed awkwardness.

You just know that will be followed up by the Sponsors' Parade bus, but only in the interest of nurturing the relationship between the corporations and the customers, mind you. And to make sure the company logos display prominently in front of the TV cameras for a further few minutes.

And after all this the races have to be shortened to 45 min, as we are rapidly running out of time.

As "cheesy" as the boxing/wrestling stuff can be to many of us, they did that as a "local color" thing for a single event and I don't think they had plans to expand beyond that.  Personally, I support that general idea and appreciate seeing elements of local/national culture in Grand Prix weekends
