WHEN: This weekend, Saturday & Sunday afternoon, two races!
WHERE: Roma, caput mundi!
WHY: We need more racing!!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
"VENI, VIDI VICI..."
...said Jean Eric Vergne as he crossed the line in P1 last season, during the first Race of the Rome e-Prix 2021.
Not an original quote, obviously: that belongs Giulius Ceasar after he won the battle against the army of Farnace II, in the fields of Zela.
But still, a pretty iconic moment for JEV!
Almost as iconic as the city that's hosting Round 4 of the 2022 Formula E Championship.
Rome, caput mundi, the capital of the ancient world!
Thousands of years of history, decades of chariot racing, where the best riders where battling for eternal fame in the ancient racetracks, like the huge Circus Maximus
Thousands of years later, we're here again, ready to talk about a new race in the streets of Rome.
A race powered by clean energy, like the horses back then: now we go electric, but the desire to win remains the same among the participants.
22 modern gladiators, wrestling with the cars around one of the most spectacular & tricky circuits of the entire Formula E Calendar.
The EUR Rome e-Prix Circuit is a 3.4 km circuit, one of the longest in Formula E, featuring 19 turns & massive elevation changes.
Bumps, jumps, tight sections, super fast sectors, literally no room for errors.
We've seen major crashes during the years, amazing wheel to wheel battles, races decided at the very last lap.
This is a real challenge
Last season, it was a wet weekend, with very low grip.
This year, sun is expected.
We'll see the new Rome e-Prix track configuration in all of its glory!
This season the Start/Finish position has been moved in the middle of the run between Turns 3-4.
This should provide a veeeery exciting first lap dash, full throttle towards Turn 7 braking zone.
Last on the brakes gets the position!
Expect some dramas!
But enough of talking: Jump onboard with Nyck Cassidy for his (WET) pole position lap in the Rome E-Prix Circuit
You may have forgotten how the Championship Standings looks after 3 races!
No problem, totally understandable: 6 weeks long gaps does that to the brain!
Well, in perfect Formula E tradition, it's WIDE OPEN!
Edoardo Mortara leads the way in his total black Venturi-Mercedes: the swiss driver looked super solid in this early part of the season, and could be serious Championship Contender.
2021 WDC, Nyck De Vries, is 5 points behind: Quick Nyck dominated Race 1 in Saudi, but made mistakes in the following 2 races.
Pascal Wehrlein & Andrè Lotterer were the absolute stars of Mexico City, finishing in Parade an extraordinary 1-2, first Porsche Win in Single Seaters after more than 50 years!
The Porsche pair could really be the protagonists of the season from now on!
Stoffel Vandoorne in the 2nd Mercedes is not far behind, followed by other big names like Vergne, Dennis, Di Grassi, Frijns & Da Costa.
The Local Hero of the Weekend is Antonio Giovinazzi.
After a difficult debut in Saudi, the talented italian driver has shown signs of improvement between the First & Second event, outpacing team-mate Sergio Sette Camara in the Mexico Qualifying session.
Unfortunately for Giovinazzi, his Dragon Penske package seems to go backwards during the races, but can the Local Hero find some extra pace in the streets of Rome, and challenge for some big points?
The crowd will be there for him, that's for sure!
Formula Eats, in the style of the Rome e-Prix!
If you want to go full Romano this weekend, while watching the races, you should really consider those two awesome local plates.
Two very easy recipes, that you can get done in a few minutes!
First one, is Spaghetti alla Carbonara
A plate rich of Proteins, with Eggs, Guanciale (kind of bacon), Pecorino Romano & Pepper.
Second one, is Spaghetti Cacio & Pepe
A wonderful Cheese & Pepper sauce, tons of it over a thick pasta format like Chitarre, or even Paccheri, even tough the original recipe talks about Spaghetti.
Trust me, it's glorious!
