For example:
"A bill to make the 37-year-old an honorary citizen is pending in the lower house of the Brazilian parliament but has yet to be voted on.
The move was proposed by congressman Andre Figueiredo after last year’s Brazilian GP..."

Guess he didn't look at the tax rate?
I chide. Nice move from Brazil if it goes through.

Someone needs to hide this thread from Aspy. I don't think he'll be able to survive even the possibility of this actually happening!

I'm not familiar with the Brazilian government, but isn't this a bit like Caroline Lucas proposing a bill in parliament? Opposition bills tend to rarely pass.

The Brazil gov't should use an early photo of Lewis, when he was driving in the 'Ayrton Senna' helmet.. And should claim the credit for slowing down Timo Glock.

Seems very odd. The crowd were not exactly cheering him the year he pipped Massa for the crown.
Could be because Massa is Brazilian himself, and a very local one to the circuit at that.

When I first saw the tweet I went to search for news thinking that something really horrible had happened in Brazil.

Indeed, though he has been very popular there in recent years - very noticeably during last year's Grand Prix. Seems there are no hard feelings in Sao Paulo.

The race promoters/circuit pulled a blinder last year. Lewis on the grid NEVER talks or shows emotion like fist pumping / hand on heart acknowledging the crowd etc etc. He normally just likes to focus and sit in the car.
Last year (not on world feed / sky etc), they was playing Bob Marley songs and the crowd was singing with lewis on the grid. Lewis was really pumped up before the start, last year.
It was clear the Brazilian crowd absolutely loved him and they was singing along and Lewis possibly has more connection with the crowd there. Maybe as the crowd is so close to race grid etc.
No surprise to me, he is very popular in Brazil, as he is such close friends with Neymar too.

That was before Verstappen's comments on Massa/Brazilians.Opportunistic none the less. Verstappen had his masterclass race in 2016. Subsequently he was hailed the new Senna. Last year, he was boo-ed. Short term memory those Brazilians have.

He seemed to get a lot of support last year which is likely the more relevant barometer.

The answer to the bolded is Hamilton and Hamilton. For you Aspy, we'll refer to it from now on as the 'Hamilton Hamilton Paradox'.

Don't you worry Aspy, I think this season is going to be a lot of fun. The racing so far has been excellent and your paradoxical contributions are always entertaining.

There'll be a sure sign, the day you're truly at ease with things. Deep down you know too what sign that is. I'll bear with you (all?) until that happens. Keep the faith!

Well he's best friends with Neymar, who doesn't speak English. Hamilton doesn't speak Portuguese either. But they're close friends!!!

The move to grant Felipe honorary Brazilian citizenship hit a tricky and ultimately insurmountable stumbling block.

Come now, Senna actually stops by and talks to Hamilton from time to time, it's only fair he gets Brazilian citizenship.
(seriously, though, I am assuming this is a courtship to woo him to Brazil or something after he retires. Perhaps as an ambassador for the Senna foundation..)

Hamilton thinks about something and that equals Senna talking to him?
Awful post.

About his love for Brazil being answered with a possible honorary citizenship.
I would say that he is honoured. Despites Brazil's many problems it is a wonderful country populated by (mostly) wonderful people. I lived in Sao Paulo for 3 years and loved every minute of it.
