I think there is some confusion here.

Porpoising is oscillations caused by the floor stalling and unstalling repetitively.

"Vowles said the bouncing is simply a function of the car striking the track: “What is happening now is that the car is lower, as a result of fixing the first issue, but now hitting the deck quite hard, and that’s creating the bouncing that you see at the moment."

Not much confusion. It was what I meant but it was early and I was not quite awake. Oscillation is 'the repetitive or periodic variation, typically in time, of some measure about a central value or between two or more different states'. Different than bouncing, indeed.

1 thing i wonder….

They said they are gonna measure the bouncing also from degradation from the floor.
What if a team bounces just a little but has lots of degradation on the floor…
Should they raise their floor, can they be disqualified?
What if a team porpoises to much over just 30 meters of the whole track?
Are teams gonna protest eachother?
To much grey areas there still are i think

Looking at the negative reactions from Max and Red Bull, I suspect that the Red Bull's floor is hitting the ground more than we might think.

It might be uncomfortable (not as harsh as Lewis in Baku} and objectively bad for the health of the drivers. The result being that the FIA might force the Red Bull to run higher. Considering the arguments on this thread, that scenario would make me smile. 😛

I just wonder how they will define whether it is just frequent bottoming out or porpoising in this new set of rules. Because bottoming out is something usual.
