Thank you Rupertit1

I had my doubts that Tony Marsh appeared at this Staverton meeting. I had not times but a friend mentioned that Tony

did not appear in first three in any class.

Also I was aware that Tony Marsh had recorded BTD at Westbrook Hay (22nd May 1954) in his Cooper-JAP (supercharged).

I believe he also entered his Dellow 1172cc (supercharged) sports car at this event. Do you have a time on this ?

I have always thought that my father's Rover 12 was a very unlikely competition car, but it got a class win in our local sprint!

Tony Marsh in his autobiography writes (page 38) "Westbrrok Hay produced a BTD over Michael Christie's blown Cooper on my first visit to the almost suburban hill climb, near Hemel Hemstead in Hertfordshire. Once again I took the Dellow along too".

One of the disappointing things about Tony’s autobiography (for me, anyway) was how little he seemed to remember about the events he competed in. He seemed to rely on magazine reports for details of what he’d done, with apparently no memory of them himself, hence very few interesting reminiscences or anecdotes. I’m wondering therefore how reliable his statement regarding Westbrook Hay might be.

I thought we'd traced his white Lotus Elite but I can't seem to find it?

"The new Dellow sports car made its first appearance and was driven into third place in two events by Tony Marsh."

Birmingham Daily Post (7-6-54), reporting on Silverstone MMEC meeting on 5-6-54.

I am not surprised Tony Marsh could not remember all his races.

On my database he competed in one event (1952) twenty events (1953) forty events (1954) and thirty nine (1955)

That's a lot to remember sixty years later
