Surprised there's no thread. Race started about 25 minutes ago. First lap behind the SC because fog, then green. Coming down the mountain in the dark, in fog. Wow. Amazing.

I just found the stream on Youtube by chance! I had no idea.

Weird its being held in May..it normally gets light during the first hour.

I believe the reason for the date change to May was due to a calendar clash with another GT event? Definitely different conditions to the usual Feb date, no scorching 35°C temps - it's got a real Nurburgring 24hrs feel atm

Having said that NSW has had so much rain this past summer perhaps it would've been much the same even in Feb...

Well, if that's the reason, they missed the target.

The race is clashing this weekend with the GT World Challenge Europe in Mangy-Cours (SRO), ELMS and Le Mans Cup in Imola and IMSA at Mid-Ohio...

Yeah I think I may have got that slightly wrong - they were looking at March, but that was the same weekend as Sebring - which might be what I had in mind. Not 100% sure for the actual reason, though I suspect the original reason for moving the date back was perhaps covid related...

Yep, it was postponed due to Covid uncertainties back in January. This weekend was the best they could do before winter really set in. All the unavailable teams and drivers led them to make the top class Pro-Am instead of Pro to get enough entrants. Some Am driver will get to win overall this year!

I’m glad to see that Bathurst is still exciting even without all the full Pro factory teams this year

Hopefully next year they can sort a better date on the calendar for it, with more teams able to attend.

Yes, they’re planning on their traditional February date for next year that doesn’t have conflicts and usually attracts a lot of factory pro teams

But its winter in Australia not Austria.....you can race. Short days but Temps likely above 15 degrees.

The mustang is kinda cool.

Considering the amount of entries this race would probably have been better as a 6hr event. At the rate they are going we might have less than 10 cars circulating by the end of it...

That’s the daytime high in the afternoon. The race starts before sunrise, and at that coldest part of the day it looks like the average winter temperatures in Bathurst would be about 1 C. It could be warmer than that on a given day, but it could also be below freezing. Racing tires just don’t work at those temps. And it can occasionally snow up there too

Are you watching the 2020 race?

LOL. Yeah I guess that's what it was. I started youtube up again on my TV and a video autostarted, so I thought it was the same one.I realized right after I posted that, that what I was seeing wasn't live, and then went back to the live stream. I have no idea why that video was playing. I usually have to select a video before anything will play, and I never selected that.

Would have loved to have seen a Brabham BT62 running around Mt Panorama today - just reset the outright lap record at Phillip Island @ 1m 24secs!
