As Maserati have said they're looking for an experienced driver for their second seat I preaume that would be Guenther unless someone can think of another former FE driver set for a comeback?

Seems that Turvey is out of a race seat for season 9, shame.

Thought McLaren would have been his last chance, given his links with the team as he's been tester for a decade.
Such a good driver, would have liked to see him driving a Gen 3 car.
Let's see if he'll mantain a reserve driver role elsewhere.

How one could tick Picktum over Turvey will forever remain a mystery.

Depends if you prefer a perennial back marker with a sweet disposition to an OK midfielder with attitude.
Personally, I wouldn't give either of them the time of day.

Guenther apparently will win the second Maserati seat: https://the-race.com...bound-de-vries/

Gunther showed great raw speed & racecraft in Season 6 & 7 with BMW.
He disappeared from the radars with Nissan, after a very bad season, not helped by the package.
Think the guy is very good, would be an unspectacular but very solid sign by Maserati.

Hm, the tenor from the pundits always seemed to be that Turvey is outperforming his eternally crappy equipment and might be a frontrunner in a better team. I guess he'll never get that opportunity now.

Eight seasons of FE with no wins and a best championship placing of 10th. I think he has every opportunity and has proved mediocre at best. He did once come 2nd in a race.

True, but he was driving for NIO the entire time... arguably the worst team on the grid by a mile

If he had shown he was anything more than just ordinary, wouldn't he have got offers from better teams?

Perhaps yes!

Wonder why it is taking so long for McLaren to announce its second driver?

Last seat available and plenty of drivers around if they haven’t decided.
If they have decided, they’ll time it to get maximum impact from the announcement.
