Start on hard do an Albon.
That could be interesting, but it seems that the Hards don't offer such a big longevity advantage to offset the pace deficit.

Well that's that iea out the window, I presume it will be difficult to overtake as in previous seasons, am I too pessimistic?

I never watch the race build up anymore and it really is a sad thing, I only ever watch the actual session nowadays. I always enjoyed the build up and post session reaction and analysis but Sky F1 provide such absolute drivel 98% of the time I just can't sit through it.
I start half an hour in and fast forward the adverts and drivel. Usually it times pretty well to have caught up by the F1 opening sequence.

Whole thing is a bit of a mess here but it's typical of our spanish/catalan culture "maƱana" and laid back live style however for an event like this the FIA have not been on top of the issue looking after the fans at all, it's not that scorching, compared to how it can be but water is vital, and people coming from abroad are not use to such heat.
I am not sure it is really fair to blame the FIA for that rather than Liberty/F1 who contract with the circuit or the circuit who contact with suppliers/vendors.
Maybe Masi's new job should be vetting the facilities at circuits.

I don't think Barcelona will turn into Bahrain overnight, but it should be easier than previous seasons.
Anyway, the huge tyre offsets we are expecting to see will definitely help passing.

4th engine of the season for Alonso confirmed so he's starting from the back.

Thinking about the fact that Russell seems to be outperforming Hamilton and I was wondering if we could have a Coulthard/Hakkinen type situation where DC would get better results from a poor car but when the Mclaren was championship winning potential Mika clearly had the edge.

Unlikely, Lewis is a far better driver than DC.

Hamilton is Mika in above analogy....
