Did Alonso park it at T15? That looked very weird. Albon agrees (I think).

Alonso playing games me thinks. He's so unlikeable

Stroll is not good enough.

Alonso playing games to preserve his Q2 placing.

Possibly like his 'spin' in Hungary a few years back.  :D

Yeah, he's hacking at the wheel for no reason whatsoever. Clearly deliberate.

I have said before, drivers should lose their fastest lap should they cause a yellow or red flag, however, rule is not there so suck it up.

Poor from Alonso, seems very disinterested often and ends up doing weird things just to amuse himself

Honestly I don't see much difference between Alonso and Vettels yellow, except Vettel crashed.

With respect, if it’s deliberate, it being nothing special to bring out yellow flags to stop those behind you from beating your time would be massive news to the Fernando Alonso of Monaco in 2006.

That was Alonso doing his best Rosberg impression. I have to hand it to him: I laughed. Of course, it deserves to be penalised. I'll be surprised if it is, though.

He did it in Australia too - brought out red flags when drivers were setting purple sectors in Q3

Injured his hand in the process too. The perfect cover, you can't deny the man's commitment.

It's not very fair to blame Alonso but not other drivers just because Albon's complain was broadcasted, is it?

The Norris flags should be looked at too, in my view.

I had a look at it on timing/track position screens. Norris was on a slow lap and drove into the T15 escape road to get out of the way for Vettel who was on a push lap. Vettel set a personal best sector 2. It happened at about 19:04:04 local time.

it's pretty clear (both the slowing and the yellow flag) but no way to punish him imo

you can call it smart

Last race playing tricks on Hamilton to piss him of as he still bitter over 2007, and getting his teammate out of the points cause a huge train by purposely driving over 3 seconds slower per lap (which in itself should be s regulation for) now this, surprised if no punishment.

Hamilton is the one who get investigated for driving too slow.

Really? I mean, that's a bit harsh. He is somewhat off the pace, but Russell is not exactly hanging about!

Yes let’s ignore the fact that alpine told Alonso on lap 35 to slow as much as he can while keeping Lewis behind to save tires or risk pitting again. . Have you considered that not everything Alonso does is about dear Lewis,

Alonso needs to grow up. IMO this is the same kind of attitude which is why his tenure at Ferrari ended without anything and he's been at best, mid field since.

Everything is about him and if its not how has to make it about him. Like when in Abu Dhabi a few years ago he purposely cut a part of the track. Today is no different.

But I think there werent many cars behind Alonso? Just the williams and maybe the Haas, who I doubt were much of a threat...?

I'm quite happy to call it a genuine mistake unless proven otherwise. I think many are quick to jump to conclusions. Yes, Alonso does seem to like pulling stuff like this lately, like cutting turn 1 at Sochi last year. But we've seen plenty of that at that corner all weekend.

I just watched it again for a first second time and yeah, I'm pretty sure he parked it. Early braking, very weird steering inputs, still seemingly under total control at all times. It looks like got the car slowed down in time to make the corner quite easily if he had wanted to. Albon said on the radio that Alonso had been driving slowly the whole lap: His first sector was a 37.1, three tenths off his personal best in Q1. I clocked the cars manually on the Track Position screen and between the control line and T14, Alonso seems to lose about 2 seconds to Gasly (the car in front). Behind Alonso (P11 at the time) there was a whole train of cars: Albon (P16), Bottas (P17), Latifi (P18), Zhou (P6, the only car that wasn't a threat to Alonso since he was already ahead on the timing screen), Magnussen (P15), Schumacher (P20), Norris (P12), Ricciardo (P14). What about the other Alpine with Ocon (P8 at the time)? He didn't even bother to go out and make a final attempt.

I just watched the onboard video of Alonso's last "flying" "push" lap (from T3 to the "off" at T15) and – I kid you not – in order to see if he had any cars behind him, he was looking in his right mirror coming out of T4, in his left mirror coming out of T6, in his right mirror coming out of T7, and again in his left mirror coming out of T12. This was definitely not Fernando Alonso trying to advance to Q2 by setting a fast lap time. To me it looks like pathetic, blatant cheating.
