Is it Monaco´s 45 km/h Mirabeau?

I think it's adelaide at Magney Cours or Lowe's hairpin.

Of course, Loews is even slower, being taken at a fantastic 32km/h! Man, I think I can RUN faster than this! :)

Probably Loews!

How fast is La Rascasse at Monaco?
How fast is the Remus curve at A1?

How about La source hairpin at Spa?

Loews must be the slowest corner in F1. You can easy run at the same speed the cars have in that corner (almost) but still its one of the corners with most accidents in Monaco.

I dont know how fast you drive in the corners but you have a much wider exit and I think this enables you to drive faster in the corner.

I looked at the track maps on the Atlas F1 site. Here are some of the slowest corners in F1:

Race Turn K/H

Monaco Lowes 40
Monaco Rasscasse 50
Monaco Nouvelle Chicane 55
Montreal Turn 10 60
France Adelaide 60
Belguim La Source 60
Japan Hairpin 60
Japan Casio Triangle 60
Monaco Mirabeau 65
Austria Remus 70
Brazil Cotovelo 70
Montreal Turn 2 70
France Turn 16 (Lycee) 70
Monaco Portier 70-75

Monaco has the slowest and the most slow corners...not a surprise.

Louis Mr. F1, you must be talking about the Gancho turn. I found a track map of the reconfigured Estoril circuit on forix.com but it didn't include any speeds.

I should think it is the Loew's hairpin. But, as a North American having only witnessed the Canadian Grands Prix, the Epingle, at the end of the straight leading onto the main straight, is quite slow, perhaps second gear, and is a fantastic place to watch motor racing live.

I did not find any statistics on the Gancho corner at Estoril, but I found this mpeg in which can estimate the cornering speed of two cars :) . It's slow, but not as slow as the Loews corner.

I do believe it's Loews - I also think it's the tightest turn on the F1 circuit.

The Station house hairpin at Monaco, which is now called Loews.

Hey, all I remember is Piquet saying that some turns at Monaco are the real test: what separates the men from the boys... :)

I can't believe I'm still reading these "I think the slowest corner is..." posts after I posted the "facts" according to Atlas F1. I guess facts just ruin a good discussion.;)

Here's my favorite quote about Monaco:

"If there's any place where a car's shortcomings can be negated by skill, Monaco is the place." (Sterling Moss)

Well, this is my favourite quote about Monaco

Racing in Monaco is like flying a helicopter in your bathroom.

Not quite sure who said it, I believe it was Piquet

I'm in agreement with everyone else here about the Loews hairpin. But, does anyone know how fast/slow that very slow turn is @ Indy? I don't recall the actual turn number, but it's the tight right-left chicane a little bit before the cars head out onto the long straight. In fact, it's the place where Schumi spun last year late in the race.

I would think that corner has to be the 2nd slowest in F1.

I think a person can run faster than this. At the Atlanta Olympics, Michael Johnson broke the 200m world record, running the distance in 19.32s. His first 100m was covered in 10.12s(standing start) and the second 100m in 9.20s (flying start). 9.20s for 100m equates to 39.13km/h, so it's likely that the fastest sprinters in the world attain a straightline top speed of over 40km/h ... but not around such a tight corner as the Loewes hairpin!

The old Monte-Carlo train station was replaced by the Loews Hotel in the early 70's, and the corner took a new name to reflect the change. Similarly, the hotel having been renamed Monte-Carlo Grand Hotel a few years ago, the hairpin took that new name as well. Another corner which name changed over the years is the current "Anthony Noghes", which used to be called "Gazomètres".

Even the athletes have to break in a corner like Loews...

Wasn't there a hairpin at the end of the long straight on the Adelaide circuit in Australia? Was it a contender on this this list?
