Perhaps you and I live in that society, but Vips will be in the cockpit till the end of the season and if he is good enough will still have a racing career.

He will have a seat co's a brave enough team didn't go with the flow to outright ban him. RB, F2, and many other were keen on being ruthless. Hitech have my respect on this one. And Vips should be thankful to them after his offense.

I am concerned the message from F2 wasn't 'We acknowledge the HiTech decision and will ensure Yuri has whatever support he needs to improve himself and educate himself on the impact of his words as a high profile racing driver" instead of "we don't want him racing in our series" which it effectively is saying.

I really don't think that kind of message is one that a neutral series should be conveying in the first place.

What makes your statement neutral?

Pledging to help someone live up to the values a series supposedly espouses is a hell of a lot more neutral than saying you don't want them in it.

Good idea to assume that everyone is racist till it's proven otherwise

I have not said he is a racist, did I. But you said he is not a racist. How do you know especially after what he said?

How do you proof something like that? Do you have to say something or so? And it is a bad idea to just assume that everyone is a racist.

Presumption of innocence.

Presumption of innocence.

And when is that presumption gone? It was pretty clear what he said was pretty bad and racist. Like really I don't know the threshold when to call someone a racist. When do you call someone a racist?

I would call someone a racist when they demonstrate a patter of behavior, that its not just a misstep.

Same, as for example, I haven't labeled Hamilton a liar for the rest of his life, even though he "misled" the stewards after the 2009 Australian Grand Prix to get Trulli's 3rd place. He was 24 at the time so he knew what he was doing. A racing driver, who's seen the world and a world champion at that, one would expect he would know what the standards were.  But he learned a lesson and we haven't seen a repeat. Also, I have no reason to think Hamilton went around "misleading" stewards at race meetings before that.

Ok fine enough. Hope he learned his lesson. Those two incidents weren't great from him. Why you drag Hamilton into this I have no idea.

Not that I called him a racist by the way. But I certainly would not say he isn't a racist too after the incident. He is now in that place in between imo. Which can go either way.

Its a comparison with another racing driver that I thought might resonate.

To me it is a weird comparison. But in life, you can always grow, always. A racist is one who does racist things I think. But that doesn't mean you can't learn or always be that way. And if it was just a slipup he will learn from it and it will not happen anymore.

I feel misled by Horner.
Very clever.

I find it strange that Red Bull say they are in no way funding the Hitech drive. I would have thought they'd already committed contractually to Hitech and couldn't legally withdraw from that.

I hope he is forgiven and bounces back like Larson.

Well, he's been dropped from the F1 team which Horner presumably has control over. Outside of that I assume someone else is in charge. Helmut Marko maybe?

Is ‘contract as reserve and test driver’ being terminated the same as being dropped from the Redbull driver program in its entirety?

Hate to quote myself here… but told ya so

Bit of smoke and mirrors when everyone was shouting about Piquet and expecting red Bull actions (yeah yeah I know - he’s nothing to do with them)

So can we expect the Red Bull livery to re-appear on his car?  Or will they keep it plain white and hope no-one notices?

He hasn't had a Red Bull livery on his car all season, only on his helmet, which was blank at the weekend.

Maybe Vips made a deal with Red Bull like a learning program and a promise or not doing again.
