So good to see also Moto legends like Agostini around there.

The GOAT was flying up the hill!

Geez that McMurtry Speirling is bloody rapid! Watching the runs it looks faster on track than the ID-R but I guess that might be because it's about 1/2 the size.

Oh wow!

That moment with Wayne Rainey... made my week; incredible

Gonna be here for the Shootout tomorrow - 3:30pm UK time right ?

Edit: Rainey just went up the hill together with Kenny Roberts, Mick Doohan, Kevin Schwantz, Dani Pedrosa and Jeremy McWilliams!

HE DID  A WHEELIE

What a beautiful day!

What a moment on the balcony as well. This gave me so much positive energy! Feels like for all the rest of the year. Cheers.

Ahh Merc brought the EQXX. Nice.

1202km on a single charge.

Love it.

For UK viewers, 90 minutes of coverage just started on ITV 1.

Ah time for the annual reminder of just how slow modern BTCC cars are.

Current BTCC cars are more or less on a par with the Sierra Cosworth RS500s of yore in terms of lap speeds.

Still slower than an electric van or off road buggy these days though (and, it seems the M4 CSL road car - I wonder what tyres that had on?).

The Mcmurty is quite a bit quicker than anything around in 1989 though! Looked utterly nuts.

Seems to me that the McMurtry is pretty popular. The commentators can’t get enough of it.

I wouldn’t want all racing cars to be like it, but it’s definitely a very interesting thing to watch go up the hill.

The last time I saw eyes like that was Phillip McCallen. I think Alex Summers is likely to be faster than Max Chilton on a run, shame he's not driving it tomorrow.

That makes things worse doesn't it? You can almost forgive a car for looking slow if it actually is slow, but what excuse is there for a fast car that looks slow?

Today's Top 10 hillclimb times

Can Max Chilton break the record tomorrow on the McMurtry?

One more tenth needed.

Very tiny, wheelbase is 5" shorter than Mk1 mini.

I think the weather may preclude Chilton breaking the weather tomorrow. Plus I’d imagine Summers is probably better suited to this event?

I dearly hope Max Chilton keeps well and far away from the all-time record in that honestly hideous whatever it is!

I have a hard time being upset about those things, especially at Goodwood of all places.  It's an event where rich people bring their historic cars and companies bring new and/or strange cars for marketing, and they all drive on a rich Earl's land.  And yet they're all using their powers for the good of a motorsport festival where rich and poor can come together in appreciation of interesting cars.  Chilton in a McMurtry doesn't seem out of place at all, to me

I genuinely love how unifying FoS is across categories and history. There’s something for everyone, and that’s great.

Thank you for that Ensign! That is a great picture!

If it's cool with you, I'll use it as a wallpaper on my phone to give me a boot of heart and serotonin when I check my phone.

Honestly what a healing week in Motorsport.

Robert Wickens wins first race since that day in Pocono while we watched Wayne Rainey and Sam Schmidt do some incredible life-affirming inspirational runs at Goodwood. What a fantastic day!

Max Chilton in the McMurtry has done an unofficial 39.1 ahead of the Shoot-Out later.

Not an officially timed run so not the official record, but that beats the 39.9 record by Dumas in the ID.R.

Wow!

But he has to do it later this afternoon as well.
