In slightly under a year since the previous thread, we have our 112th Grand Prix winner - Carlos Sainz. Junior, obviously (though it would have been something if Carlos Sainz Sr. had pulled it off!). 41 Autosport forumers managed to guess this correctly, though Lando Norris was the overwhelming winner of the previous thread.

Who will it be? George Russell has found himself slightly unlucky to be sitting behind the wheel of a Mercedes that doesn't look quite like it's ready to win Grands Prix. Lando Norris also appears to have a recalcitrant McLaren at his disposal, so who else could it be? GOATifi?

Come, all you budding Nostradamii! Show us what you think!

Russell, next year. Lewis is slowly getting to grips with the car and have all 4 leaders out it is too rare these days.

I'm just going to keep voting Russell in each subsequent thread until he does win it.

I was waiting for this today! Thanks Frood.

It's going to be George Russell #63 this year before he reaches that 100 mark without a win threshold.

Edit: Sainz is #112 winner and is the first to do it at Silverstone from Johnny Herbert's win here in 1995 - the same race that was my first ever full F1 raced I consciously watched, ahaha. Curious to see the track where the next one happens.

Gone for the left-field option.   Pourchaire in 2024.

Russell is too obvious, I'm going with Tsunoda 2024.

Haas' Hungary update turns out to be a Ferrari clone and KMag brings it home number 1.

Russell, this year. The improvements Mercedes have made and the number of races we still have left, I think it’ll happen.

I'm not sure Norris has any better luck, given the propensity for it to literally rain on him.

Best chance in current field would be Russel followed by Norris, neither I expect to win this season, so depending what they show up with in 2023 (2024) - Since he is on the grid, I have voted Magnussen, and 2022 - It would be more than a huge surprise were it to happen - But one is only human.

At this stage, I think Russell looks to be the most likely next first time GP winner. I am not convinced he will have the opportunity to win this year, in part because Lewis Hamilton's performances at Montreal and especially Silverstone make me think he is the more likely Mercedes driver to win a race this year, but I do think he will become a GP winner in the relatively near future so I voted for him to do it in 2023.

From the other current drivers listed, Lando Norris seems to the only other potentially strong candidate, but I would be very surprised to see McLaren win a race this year and am not sure they will do so next year either. I do think the 113th GP winner will probably be a driver on the current grid as I expect there to be few driver changes next season, especially as I foresee very few (if any) changes at the teams which are likely to have a realistic chance of winning a race. However, I would be very surprised if the next new winner isn't Russell or Norris, as the other non-winners on the current grid strike me as too raw, not good enough or unlikely to find a suitable drive (possibly all three in some cases!).

Lots of interesting choices, but I'll go with the obvious .... George Russell, if not this year then surely next. Other possibilities in the totally messed up, safety car rain race extravaganza would be Lando Norris, and Lance Stroll.

Now that's a bold claim!

Pretty sure someone who isn't even in F2 or F3 yet will have won a championship by then. Probably Andrea Antonelli.

Next must surely be Norris, or would Piastri steal it away from him. But could as well take a few years from now

Only drivers with no wins on the grid in 2023 are:

Lando Norris (McLaren-Mercedes)

Oscar Piastri (McLaren-Mercedes)

Guanyou Zhou (Alfa Romeo-Ferrari)

Lance Stroll (Aston Martin-Mercedes)

Kevin Magnussen (Haas-Ferrari)

Mick Schumacher or Nico Hülkenberg (Haas-Ferrari)

Yuki Tsunoda (Alpha Tauri-Red Bull)

Nyck de Vries (Alpha Tauri-Red Bull)

Alex Albon (Williams-Mercedes)

Logan Sargeant (Williams-Mercedes)

No one of those will win a race in 2023 I think but the best chances has Lando Norris I think.

I'll say Kevin Magnussen as the official entry, more likely will be Norris or Piastri.

Seems I was bang on. Not surprising as it would have never been a doubt that Mercedes would win a race with Russell behind the wheel. Albeit I always have said Mercedes wouldnt win on merit in 2022. I was off there.

The next one will be a bit harder. But Ill save that for the next thread on this.

Yes, there don't seem to be any obvious candidates now apart from him, and it could be a while, barring a crazy race.
