I still can't quite understand how this circuit is allowed to race on. We have such a bump on a place where you can overtake. How is that even possible. Imo that is ridiculous.

Yeah, I definitely think there is no doubt that gen 3 will have outgrown this track

As for possible future venues, if they said they're looking at the sports stadium grounds model as reported, I think there's a possibility of a decent race track over at Citi Field (New York Mets) and near Flushing Meadows (US Open - Tennis). It's in Queens rather than Manhattan or Brooklyn, so you wouldn't get the interesting downtown shots from the track. But the track could actually be a step up in suitability.
Very much speculation though, they might end up moving cities entirely.

Citi Field has car parks galore, but Im not sure it lends itself to an FE track.
Besides anything in New York will never be as good as the loop around Central Park!

With regards to the bold section, one could say the same and more about Brooklyn Cruise Terminal! What would lend itself to an FE track, in your view?
I think you could fairly easily create something not unlike IndyCar's old Denver circuit, and that would be an upgrade over what is used today.
Of course Central Park would be exciting and spectacular, but it's about as likely as me sending my cat to Mars and I'm not entirely sure it would lead to great racing.

Delighted for Cassidy in race 1 and for his two poles, but why did he get penalised TWICE for a battery charge. First a 30 place grid drop, then a stop and go? Just DQ him if you dislike him that much!

I believe any grid penalty you are unable to serve is converted into an in-race penalty?

As there are a lot less than 30 cars, even the pole sitter cannot accomplish a 30 place grid drop. So why give such a penalty if you then have to add another? Must be an FIA thing, which would explain everything.

Yeah having a 30 place grid drop with a maximum of 24 cars on the grid is a little silly

4 races to go, I think it's perhaps a straight up fight between between the top 3 for the title. JEV just had his luck go the other way entirely over the last 4 races in a fatal way.

I can't rule JEV out yet, he's only 27 points back and there's still over 100 left up for grabs.... but he's going to have to do well in London compared to his rivals or his chances are really are going to thin out almost irreparably.

Citi Fields looks like it is fenced in by highways to the north and east, railroads to the south and an industrial/housing area to the west that FE should be racing in.
The ring road around the stadium looked to be a dull semi circle. The car park itself could create some interesting corners but would probably be a bunch of switchbacks to give the circuit some extra lap time. To be honest maybe a slight improvement over the cruise terminal track.
The features of a good FE track really depend on your viewpoint. I dont think I need to say what would be good for us as fans, we already know that.
If I was a town planner/organiser, then I would like a track that had the following;
- Circuit does not enclose any homes
- Has a road access bridge over/under circuit so not to inconvience people/buildings located in middle of track
- Showed off nicer areas of the city/landmarks on the background of the track
- Areas that have infrastructure/space to support paddock & pits
- Require only a small amount of enabling works (removing road furniture etc.)
- Sufficient areas for safety barriers at the end of long straights to avoid stupid chicanes for speed control
I knocked these up in 5 mins. Do you have more to add?
